Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone could offer some advice about what the options and expected prices are for getting a towbar fitted to a 2010 Jimny. My previous cars already had them fitted, so the prices I'm being quoted to get it done are somewhat heart-stopping.

Cheers,
mattg.

$550ish for haymon reese receiver style towbar supply only.

Don't get one as it is the shittiest towbar I have ever seen from a Australian manufacture. It really is a shit towbar.

im assuming receiver style is referring to the actual arm and ball being able to be removed from the bars that go between the chassis rails… and not the position one adopts when going to the towbar place.

are there any other options? The cheapest I've been told so far was 625 including installation, ARB were $700+ as were Suzuki.

cheers

Prices I was quoted in October last year, including 7 pin flat wiring loom supply only.
Pre ABS (1100kg) $410
Current model (1300kg) $560

Took me about and hour and a bit to fit the bar, a little longer to do the wiring (the pictures in the instructions for running new loom up the passenger side lights were not very clear).
No concerns with the construction of the bar from me, I've been a boiler maker on the tools for over 10 years and I have no worries using this bar for loads they say it is made for.

I looked at one of those cheap shit bars with the flat plate welded (not a removable hitch).
They where nearly $200 cheaper then the Hayman Reese bar, but I would never put one of those cheap nasty things on my car. Just my opinion, others may like them.

thanks for the replies. The 625 option is looking like it's pretty reasonable, given it includes fitting. I'd wait, except I need it all sorted in about a month.

cheers

Does that include installation? All the ARB locations near me have been saying somewhere in the vicinity of $700 to do the job.
