I bought an small bike trailer to turn into a camper trailer to tow behind the Vit. I've always sacrificed comforts for capability in the Sierra but now I want to travel a bit further and camp more often. This is how I picked it up. Took off the bike stuff and the shin smasher. Made sure the bigger essentials fit in nicely where I will build a frame. Had enough for today.

I'm actually in the market for something similar, once I can find the right one. The long drawbar suits me also, as my kayaks are bloody long suckers and I'd like to be able to throw them on top.
Keen to see how this ends up!

The meshed area will be boxed in 400mm high. I think i will make it best part sealed and have a canopy made up which should keep my gear clean and dry.
It has a big heavy bit of C channel down the guts of it. Thinking of replacing that with RHS at deck height.

How thick's the channel? Iit looks pretty thick; I bet you'd save a heap of weight just by doing what you said and swapping it out for some far smaller RHS. Plus, the channel seems to stick out awkwardly at the front of the drawbar? Might just be the angle of the photo though.

I grabbed it with my fingers, it feels about 8mm. And yeah it hangs down at the draw bar. Plus it would be better having another length of material supporting the floor.

Took the trailer camping. I thought it'd be good to suss out the trailer before I did much to it. It tows pretty good, springs are a bit stiff though. I need a jockey wheel and I borrowed my Dad's alloy box which proved to be useful so i'll sort something out there. I've gotten a couple of ideas to make camping nicer for me!

Made some HiLift mounts. Not that im likely to use it. Stripped it back some more this arvo. Welded on a jockey wheel...pretty grotty Rain/hail came in. Hopefully it pisses off, or im under a gazebo tomorrow

I'd run 10 on the Vit if it didn't turn like shit. Trailer loves it. Just needs a leaf or two popped out.

Cos it didn't fit the 4kg bottle I had, haha. Swapped with the old boy as his fit.
Cheers! Nah it's gonna be alloy. Floor will be alloy too just didn't feel like spending the money on it this week.

Ally sides and floor on a steel trailer... I've thought about the same but are people generally concerned about electrolysis? Or is that only really a worry in the marine industry? (I worked in the aluminium game for a while and it was a big no-no for obvious reasons.)
In my head I thought I could just lay down a layer of rubber/plastic/whatever to form a barrier between the two metals.

I couldn't care.
Also painted steel and a bead of silicone to stop rattles will help against it.

Looks tuff!
Are you going to do a roof top camper on it or just rock a swag in the tub?

I'll do a spring over and put the wheels off the Vit on it after I do the SAS and rear bar so I can set everything up dead level.

Put some alloy on the trailer on the way to QLD on Thursday night. Yeah ZN, just not yet or the trailer will point down.

It's made for the fat fucker fuel jerry on the other side. The holders were a temp job just to get me out of trouble this weekend. 25mm flat bar isn't very visually appealing...

Had a squiz at the alloys on the trailer. Might end up high enough on the bigger tyre size. Not a bad looking wheel.
