Post subject:  replacing trailer floor??

Hey guys, i have a trailer which is like 30+ years old, my family have re- done it god knows how many times, now ive started to use it. Get to the point , it has some gnarly rust holes , whats the best way to replace it? I can weld but i assume the steel would be expensive, i will be making it so i can use it better when i take my quad out and for camping, but my bros also use it for work, any sugestions?

A Sheet of 2.9mm thick gal is cheap.
I would expect the merchant would sell a 24x12 sheet off the shelf for around $110 + GST
If you went to a small sheet metal place, they would probably even cut it to size for you if you order through them.

My work trailer has checker plate aluminium sheet, pain in the bum to sweep out compared to flat sheet, especially wet dirt.

I got a sheet of 2mm (I think) zink plated steel delivered to my house for $100. Cut out the old stuff, drop in the new floor. Couple of welds and will last another 30 years

Mine is 2mm gal plate. Use either Gal or zinc flat plate.

Checker plate is a pain to sweep clean as noted above, but more importantly, that stuff scraps the hell out of the bottom of your esky when you drag it in and out while it's full of beers... ;)

can also flip the checker plate over and use the bottom as the top

I would just grind the bumps off, then it wouldn't need to be flipped ;)
