Hey guys, Rigged up some roof racks for my Jimny and put a RTT on. Anyone else done the same or have any experience with them? ![]() The racks use the existing studs from the factory rails. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope to hear everyone's opinions and ideas. Brad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks schmick! I've always wondered about putting that much weight on the roof/rack though. |

Thanks Sage, I didn't think the factory rails with cross bars or a platform would take it so I built racks. I'm fairly confident the roof will take it. Time will tell. I haven't been for a drive with it up there yet. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The (static) weight will be fine. Driving is another story. |

Looks good!! I did something similar a while back, using the Jimny rails and four crossbars, but was never sure about the Jimny rails, so I replaced them with marine SS rails riveted on and using the Jimny roof attachment bolts. The rail is slim and flex enough to fit the roof curve with a few SS rivets. Then I modded an alloy frame I had, and supported it with 3 HD crossbars, then the RTT. I did find it a bit top heavy when you are ripping around the place so took the RTT off and made it a removable feature on my little trailer. The roof frame now carries only the awnings, an LED lightbar, and a bit of light gear. The trailer is not a problem to tow normally, but not good for bush bashing (nor is a tent on top). I leave it at base and come back to base at night. It gives me a bit of decent storage room which Jimny lacks, and the tailgate makes a good table and wine bar! |
