On the beach near beachport. It really surprised me how good it is on sand, only went down to 15psi and it just floated over the hot and dry sand

Altunga police station, very interesting place. Was a gold mining town but is completely abandoned.
The desert was very green with lots of grass. I can see lots of overtime coming up in the next year or two down there. Woohoo.

Image

On the road between Altunga and Winnecke. Pretty good drive and didn't see another person.

On the track into a water hole about 150km east of Alice, track was very slow going. Took me 2 hours to drive 8km.

Image

Bloody grass is making fossicking a bit hard, can't wait to set it on fire so it's easier to hunt for gold.

Image

Arb just chucked the tank in the back of the car instead of bolting it in so that is now this weekends job.
Every tank I have fitted in the past was straight forward and next to no parts, this one has about 7 billion bits so I hope it is an easy enough job.

It really is a awesome car. Haha owned it for 9 days and already done 7000km haha.

Hooking my camper to it this weekend and heading to the tanami, will be interesting to see how it goes as there is
a lot of water over the road and the camper is right on the tow limit.

Thanks for sticking up the photos britvit. Did you sort out Photobucket on your phone?

They are pretty awesome. If you plan on wheeling it hard (which I think you do for all cars) brace the front axle. Every second JK over here has a bent front housing.

haha says the jimny owner :thefinger:

I wheel with mechanical sympathy, where I go a brakedown can be life threatening so it pays to be smart with driving style.

Yet you bought a jeep?

Reckon you'll last less time with this than the jimny.

It's a funny thing, I thought pretty hard about what to get and spoke to a lot of people and couldn't find any first hand information about issues. Every owner was happy.

Toyotas are supposed to be reliable however my 2015 79 series can't do the speed limit without chucking a CEL and going into limp mode and half of the owners in the NT report the same.

I have done close to 10000km in the jeep and only issue is I have nearly worn out the wipers from going around corners.

Does it have 2 O2 sensors???

If only one cut the cat out, that's the main reason Petrols start grass fire's.

Hurts to say, but they do drive nice.

I have to remove one of the mufflers to fit the fuel tank so will sus it out then.

Ultimately I want a pair of Dana 60s and a hemi. All I need is to find a good sized nugget.

Nothing wrong with a well setup JK. I've had mine for a while now and I love it... You can't beat a Zook for bang for buck smiles, but a JK with good suspension and nice tyres is a good thing.

Dynatrac is doing some great deals on Dana 60's at the moment, or Teraflex make nice axle sets which are designed for our RHD market.

https://www.dynatrac.com/serious-perfor ... m-140.html

It gets expensive really quick, so plan your mods well and have fun :)

I wasn't going to respond to this mainly because I think you are a idiot that thinks a 50km drive is called touring but here goes.

The jimny was the longest toy car ownership I have had. Family cars I keep for 4-5 years but toy cars are lucky to last for 2 years.

Shep wouldn't know where to start. Pretty keen on the touring thing though. I didn't realise I had no idea what it was.

I'm agreeing with Steve, after having to fix one, wouldn't touch another with a barge pole...

I've been thinking about a jeep for a long time, but I just cannot bring myself to spend the money on one. Anyway it looks the piece and it's like anything, maintenance and the way you treat it will be the key to how reliable it is in the long run.

It looks so much more comfy than a jimny!

It's much more comfortable then a jimny. It's also the easiest car to service that I have come across.
Now done 13500km and still very happy with it.

how does your mechanical ability reflect on a car? Being a shit mechanic doesn't make the car shit

My dislike for the car has something to do with the car trying to set me on fire....
Admittedly it had been in a car crash but it was only minor, but the parts.... Where should I start, standard shocks second hand $800, grille $400, fuel pump (right next to exhaust pipe hence why trying to kill me) $650, New axle upwards of $5000 (we were lucky it was still able to be bent back in place so only $2700 with strengthening plate), front bumper $600 (we managed to source a Chinese bull bar for $450), and a team at the dealership who was zero help. (List doesnt include all parts, just the parts and prices I remember off the top of my head)

Now I'll admit parts on cars are getting more expensive now days, with the LED lights of Landcruiser Sahara being $5000, but considering that this jeep was approximately $35 000 new, it appeals to younger people, who get stuffed over whenever something breaks.

Also your a bit quick jumping to conclusions, we got the car running even though some of the bolts would not fit a metric or imperial spanner. Yes I will admit being a bad mechanic doesn't make a car shit, but when good mechanics call them shit, I now know why...

The thing thats the problem with most jeeps is everything is way under engineered. Every diff they have ever used has been crap. I dont know y any one use American diff . The gears on a 44 are ok but every thing else from there out is crap. The housing are all flimsy. The bearings are usually rubbish expensive unit bearings.
All the brackets rip off the housings. The fancy swaybar disconnects dont last long before they rip them self apart.
If they used some 10mm tubes and some big full floating ends the would fix most of their problems. On paper they are the most capable cars on sale.
