ok got a prob i need a new set of tyres for my jimny. i was hopeing to save up enough money to get a 80mm lift and a set of tyres in 1 hit, but yea need new tyres now .

so to my question, i was going to get a set of 235/75/15s when i got the lift. i want to know will these fit under a stando ride hight jimny well enough to be used on road until i can save up enough coin to get the lift?

if they wont fit what size should it get? prob is i can really afford to buy another set in a few months time so thats why i was goin to get the 235s.

also what offset rims would i need regardless of lift? (will need them anyway if i get a cheap set now)

hey man, pretty sure 215/75's will be ok. Doubt you would have any chance fitting 235's under there without lift. My 235 BFG's on -12 offset rims scrubbed bad on my 2" lifted jimny when first fitting them (even on road). Any sort of bump/divot in the road would cause pretty significant contact

hey mate, 235/75 are VERY close to fitting with standard rims & good springs but will still scrub when you go over bumps. If you can afford some 30mm spring spacers these should fit, otherwise 215/75 or 225/75 will be good.

Im speaking from personal experience as i have actually tried many different sized tyres on my old Jimny. I happen to have a set of 225/75 tyres with around 80% tread if you are interested- oh and i have a set of standard wheels & tyres too.

it also depends a lot on the brand - some 235s will measure much bigger than some others. I know my 235s wouldn't have even fit in the front guards sitting still without the 2" lift kit (as the back of the front guards would catch on the tyres). There was about a 3mm gap between tyre and guard.

i was thinking about going to 215s but then i decided i wanted a bit more tread on the ground for stability. 225smite be the way to go i think, do they fit on the stando rims?

yea 225 75 15 will fit standard rims
but good luck gettin them in a aggresive tread.
either 215 75 15 or a 235 75 15 will offer a muddie.
proly go the 215s just to keep the gearing happy.
and if u want to save money stick to a 40mm lift. this way u wont need aftermarket panhard rods or castor correction bushes etc.

I've had 235s on standard rims on a few occasions. Some tyre shops will tell you they won't but they do.

40mm of lift works with up to 215/80R15s so will definitely work with 215/75
40mm of lift will not be enough room for 235s on standard rims.
60mm will clear everything on and off road with 235s

As Parfittron mentions different brands will fit differently.

Also stock offset/width rims will keep the tyre tucking into the guards nicely. Once you go to a neg offset you'll have more clearance woes.

I'd suggest hold off on the rims until you get the lift in place. If you want to go bigger tyres just pick up a cheap 2nd hand set for now until you get your lift.

As for the lift. You don't need to get the panhards straight away. I ran my 80mm lift without them for a few months with no dramas.

Brake lines you'll only need when;

A. You have longer than stock travel shocks (stock will keep them overextending in the meantime)
B. You go over 60mm (Check it once done but mine was at 60mm with stock lines for years)

I also have some 2nd hand tyres for sale although 2 of them are fairly low on tread.

got quoted $215 each for a 225/75/maxxis bigohorn and 205 for the buckshots. is anybody running these tyres and can tell me what they are like. also got quoted 65 each for 7" sunnies.

this was only at the first place i asked so will be shopping around but i think its quite cheap.

Sounds a bit expensive to me, but I'm a tight arse. I'd shop around some more first.

i got my maxxis bighorn 235/75/15 for $205 a tyre from ace tyres and auto. i got a 40mm spring lift with 20mm spacers and it clears without scrubbing. i recomend the bighorn i love how they handle on and off road.

i think ill go with the 215 each, i got a couple of other quotes and they were like 240-250. just need to save some money now.
