Anyone got some ideas?
I've just put an engine back in (was completely removed). It was working fine before hand. Was last turned over about 3 months ago now.
Starts up fine, and idles fine when cold, once warmed up it starts running like a dog, then just turns off. Runs off fine when using the throttle.
Any suggestions??

Dirty carb?? Sounds like the same thing mine was doing(g13ba) though. Had some shit caught up in the needle'n'seat. Clamp the fuel line, as it is ready to die unclamp quckly, this may flood whatever is in there out. Goodluck

Failing that take the airbox off, give it a good rev then stick your hand over the top of the carby to starve it of air. This should blow out any shit that may be in your jets....

can of carbie cleaner and spray the faark out the idle jet.. could try blowin compresed air thru it to.. there is a thread around someware with pics of where n where not to point the cprsd air.. warning is it can damage your float

this way works well and gets rid of whats blocking the jet the other methods work but the dirt thats blocking it will hang around and can block it back up

Ripped out the timing light to see what it was.
20 degrees. Woops. Haha
So popped that back to 8, but that's not exactly accurate 'cos i wasn't doing it at proper idle. Ran out of light so packed up for the day. Hoping i can adjust the idle down a bit and change the timing. But still don't think that's the problem.
Will try some of the ideas that have been said tomorrow too. Thanks for all the help guys.

did you plug the wires back into teh carby? can you hear the solenoid on the side click?
if not check for power going to it when the ignition is on and check your fuses

Yep, plugged wires in. What solenoid am I looking for? Haven't tested supply, but will be the first thing I do tomorrow.

So it seems that it's nothing carby related.
Has anyone had any problems with the ignition resistor (i think it's called). 2 people have told me that it could be this resistor. Apparently it sits in the dizzy, and when it's stuffed it can get hot, and give me these symptoms. I was told to pour water over the dizzy when it starts spluttering and whatnot, if it works when it cools down, then there's the problem. And it worked last night. Took it for a drive to warm it up, pulled into the driveway and cut out, poured a heap of water over it (making sure to keep it away from the head), and started it up and it worked.
