how do i easily isolate the sparky bits for my winch? from memory it draws up to 450amps.
i have had a bit of a look around and haven't found anything over 200amp.

so whats the go? what should i use?

Group some ciruit breakers together on the positive wire. Superwinch used to do that years ago.

I run a 500/100 fuse...
It is rated at 500A draw or 100A dead short.. Don't ask me how it works, I dunno... Just looks like an ordinary fuse....

Cole Hersee battery switch, if they dont die on a winch Patrol with a rewound motor and 24v I doubt they ever will

I don't know what they are worth, but 61075 cost me about $120 last year, so i'm guessing it'll cost more than that.

Another avenue worth investigating would be the screw type isolation switches mounted directly on battery terminals. I think I have seen them in supercheap but they probably aren't rated to 450A and that would isolate everything - not just winch. Why do you want to isolate the winch when they already have a solenoid box that does that?

Just use a winch solenoid , which are rated the same as the winch , then use a relay and switch to turn it off and on , Cheers Paul.
