Hey guys, noticed the other day that my brake lines are currently working as flex limiters, i want the full low down on extending brake lines so any information is appreciated. im currently running a 2" spring lift, not going to do a BL but may be getting extened shackles or doing a mini ruf in a few months time. its also my daily driver so:

1. what lenght?
2. material? i.e. are braided the best so the brakes arent spongy
3. brand/cost?
4. what is involved in fitting? ease/difficulty? (i have very little to no mechanical skills)
5. cost of getting them fitted?
6. is it best to get 3 lines? i havent checked the back line but no the two fronts are too short.

hey man every one says 4inch is the go i was looking at 5 for when i do my wt conversion and ruff and so forth and putting a spring on the line to hold it away from the wheels.

braided lines are better in the long run but people also say they attract more attention from the po po and they arnt flexible like the rubber ones.

brands dont have a clue

im pretty sure its straight forward just undo old replace with new then you have to bleed your brakes and set them up again.

no idea on cost couldnt think it would be to much as you would only need the lines and a bottle of brake fluid.

and if your replacing one may as well replace the 3rd for the extra $35 odd bucks least you know that they are all new and fresh

i paid $30 for a 6" extended rear line, up front i have 4" extended, i dont remember what i paid for them. fitting is easy, i do recommend using pipe spanners and getting someone to help you bleed the brakes (if your not sure how to do it).

i think the standard material is ok, as long as you dont have massive lines. fitting cost really depends on where you go, ask a few mechanics in your area, they may know someone that makes the lines.

Thanks, so do you have braieded or starndard rubber ones? where abouts did you get yours from? beacuse the ones ive looked at have been way more expensive. i would only be getting 4" maybe longer on the back.

i have the standard rubber type. i got mine from baileys brake and clutch in bundamba, it would be a big drive for you from the coast. try sending want33s a pm he might have some laying around.

yeah he recommended enzed in nambour, they make them up as you wait.

My brother works with the guy that made my braided brake lines for my last car. I'm yet to hit him up for a set for the Vitara. He works at a hydraulic hose shop and does the brake lines as an "on the side job" He uses Brakequip products. http://www.brakequip.com/

To be honest, It is the one of the best modifications you can do to your brake system !!
Instant pedal feel, They are DOT approved and comes with a certificate to say they are legal and it also stamped on the fitting itself. You can choose to have a plastic sleve over the actual braided line itself to prevent them getting dirty, And you can choose the colour of the fitting.

Same material as ours..............

I have some here that you can inspect if you wish. Beside the lowrange ones have new banjo fitting whereas alot of hose shops here will re-use your old ones.

One's made in Oz to ADR's have ADR on the rubber bit's on the end.

Was just given a pair of front's, that look the same apart from the rubber.

Well I fitted them today. They are heaps better. Pedal feel is drasticly improved also.

At $60 AUD for 2 with new copper washers and retainers, I don't care if they don't have ADR stamped on them
