okay guys the zook has clicked over 240000kms and in need of some loving

what would you guys suggest i look at checking/replacing

im going to do a service in the coming week and thought why not an overhaul

in the last year i have replaced bearings, uni joints, starter, shocks, brakes, hoses so they dont need to be done

im thinking so far
plugs
leads
oil
oil filter
fuel filter
coolant
timing

any other ideas guys throw em out there not modifying just want to keep it happy

what about diff, gearbox and transfer case oils? when where they done last?

By "timing", do you mean Timing Belt, as that's certainly one thing I'd look at replacing on a 240,000km suzuki you don't know the history of.

Plugs (check them, you don't always NEED to replace)
Leads
Engine Flush
Oil Filter
Oil
Air Filter (If it's very dirty, a little dirt is normal)
Fuel Filter (Check, replace if it isn't spotlessly clean)
Timing Belt (Check the condition of the belt, don't always need to replace)
Timing (Do it by ear or use a timing light to make sure it's spot on
Coolant Flush (If it isn't super green)
New Coolant (As above)
Diff Oil (Check the colour, honey = fine.. Milky = water contaminated, check axle seals and breathers)
Gearbox Oil
Xfer Case Oil
Degrease Engine Bay (To check for any oil leaks)
Radiator / Heater Hoses (Squeeze or remove to check they aren't breaking apart inside.. They usually look FINE from the outside, don't trust it)
Brake Lines (Check for deterioration/cracks)
Brake Pads/Shoes (Check how much meat they have left, replace if needbe)
Wheel Bearings (Jack up car and check for slack on all axis)
Uni Joints (Check for any play)
Hubs (If they made a clicking noise, or are hard to lock/unlock.. Rebuild, or atleast re-grease)
Use Injector/Carby Cleaner (It says 1 bottle per tank, i put 2 bottles into 1/4 tank personally, makes it more effective)

That's about all i can think of, brief list i know

my coolants red, was that way when i got it. yours may be the same... does the same job, just dont mix the colours...

im also told that injector cleaners can do their job a little too well in an old engine... they clear away crap thats sealing up old seals, and you will find that your sierra will start burning oil... dont know the full truth behind that, or the relevance in a little 1.3L engine, someone else can confirm or bullshit that story. ive run injector/carby cleaner through (only at 1 bottle to full tank strength) and never had a problem myself...

be careful with red coolant - it eats rubber hoses and gaskets! i was lucky and got onto it before any serious damage was done - but did bust a rad hose. It can actually eat away your head gasket over prolonged use.

thanks for the ideas checking diff, gear box and transfer oils is a good idea

i have had th zook for 2 years so got an idea of the history

thinking i might replace the carby too as mine does not have the auto choke working as it was a pain so i took it off

Where are the diff breather points on a stocky? Also, how much oil needed for both diffs?

A 5L bottle is the usual size you buy in store
That'll fill two 1.3L WT diffs with some to spare

The diff breather points are the little caps ontop of the diff housing, make sure they aren't sealed shut.. Don't wan't pressure to blow your axle seals!
Also make sure they aren't about to falloff, or water can easily enter

sorry to hijack- but is this with all red coolants? i was told that red is the best stuff to use.
