I have noticed recently a clicking or flicking noise coming from LHS front wheel I have checked underneath nothing is in contact with the wheel it slows off if i decrease speed, any ideas?

It happened to me last year and had me fucked for ages what the noise was

jack it up and check for play in the wheel side to side and top to bottom? give it a spin and see what you can see/hear?

Yeh i will jack again i did so once heard nothing and Joseph just had wheel bearings replaced - Monday and I thought that would have been solved the problem but not to be, also more confusing the flicking comes and go's.

Jacked it up and spun the wheel - quiet as a mouse I starting to think i may be picking up stones and flicking them out because they are 205 70 tread is quite tight.

Redzook just had rear brakes and front bearings done and Cv repacked also I will have to take back to BBrakes let them take it for a run.

When you find out post it up here, mine's doing the same thing on the RHS. And it's not the wheel weights either

it would help a bit to know what your Zook is, and are they drum or disc brakes ?...

Just saw your post saying it has front disc's... when i had my 89 Vit with front disc's , i had a ticking, clicking noise from the front wheel, had it looked at, turned out it was the two flat springs either side of the pad, they were stuffed and the pad was moving backwards and forwards, giving the clicking noise, and yes it slowed off at lower speed too, they also clicked a few times when i reversed, see if there is much side to side play in the pads...

I have the same problem. eventually stopped tho.
warped disks probably don't help either.

I think its only the 81's. I have an early 83 and it was disk.

I had my grease monkey look at today and he said he could see nor hear anything unuaual but MacBear I will examine the front brakes as you suggested. Thanks for tip

mines doing the same.... i have an 85 sierra with disc brakes... im just thinkin the bearing,,, what yas rrekon..... just a pretty loud grinding noise!

I had my bearings replaced recently and lhs had siezed well worth looking into particularly if you have done a bit mud drivin. I dont how many klm you get from a new set of bearings but there always seems to be some talk of bearing replacement on this site.

some people say they only get 6 months average. but i would think thats with cheapo bearings, massive offset wheels and constant offroad driving. even then, thats not very good... mine were there since i bought the car, which is 2 years ago, with no issues, and who knows last time they were replaced before that. replaced them 2 weeks ago, but the old ones had no noises, just quite a bit of play in them.

dont know if you're meant to do this anyway or not, but i threw some loctite gasket goo where the brake backing plate bolts onto the diff (hope i got the part names right there, its late at nite) just to help seal the bearings better.
