Gday Folks,

the heater hose on my 1.3l is blown, the one from the firewall to the bottom radiator hose under the inlet manifold.

Can anyone give me an idea of going via top or bottom.

I can get the spring loaded clip open, but because of the angle im in, an my useless great big buffy hands, I am unable to do any more, just squeeze the clamp open. Do I cut the hose and try that way, with out climbing under her, is it a do-able job from underneath.

If the hose is already cactus i'd try cutting it. Working under the inlet mani can be a PITA that's for sure. 1.6 16v is even worse!!!

can you get vice grips to lock onto the clamp? makes it a bit easier to twist off

otherwise now is a good excuse to buy tools, like really long pliers

I got so many tools, a shed full, and 10" long bent and straight long nose pliers, they are hopeless in this job but.

The vise grips could be the go, and yea, if I cut it may make me a bit more room.

They were built for small mechanics hey.

they are really easy to do from inside the trans tunnel with the gearbox out

The vice grips were the go.

I decided to reroute the hose, bypass the heater altogether, so its now from the block to the inlet manifold, the heater was worthless, and this way, there will be no hose movement and so, hopefully, it will never break.

All good till winter or Dot pull you over, but thay did miss that on all the car`s thay checked of mine.

now you are circulating hot coolant around your engine and it will over heat

get rid of the hose loop and grab some blanking caps and block the outlets

or jsut put hose on, its not like it will give you any drama for the next 10 years

I sed to the mechanic that I wanted to blank them off, and he sed not to as it will build unnecessary pressure.

Now im lost.

the hoses are effectively blocked when the heater tap is in the cold position anyway

it wont build pressure the water has plenty of other places to go, like through the top and bottom hose and radiator

So I'll just cut it into two and blank them off hey.

Took her out for a run yesterday after fixing the hose, made her work as hard as i have ever done, and no dramas with temp, but then, its not that hot at the mo.

I have a Maruti MG410 (badged as a Sierra with 5/1994 on compliance plate) and I am trying to identify the bottom heater hose.

I live in the middle of nowhere so I have no suppliers to talk to and cannot find any diagrams or part number on the web.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could identify the part number so I can order one?

as far as I know there are no replacement heater hoses available, genuine parts wouldnt carry them either I would reckon

jsut normal heater hose is fine, you can get a thingy that looks like a spring with a bit of flat strip welded to the side that helps with any tight bends that might kink the hose, but a 1 litre doesnt have this problem from memory

Thay may do the job..
