OK so if ya have read my build thread then you know what my plans are with my maruti ute.

The probs is with it having different specs to the 1.3lt's, I'm not quite sure what will fit and which one I should approach first.

Eg.
1.6EFI conversion with 5 speed gear box. As the maruti only has the 4spd box would I be correct in saying that when I get round to doing the conversion that I would be better off leaving the gear box on with the motor (if I pick up a wreck)
Or would it be easier to put the 1.3lt 5spd guts in the 4spd box and match the engine up to the existing bellhousing.

Then theres the transfer case.
I plan to run 31's so I was going to order the 6.5 gears (planning on doing this before the engine conversion) But apparently the 6.5 crawler gears dont fit the 1lt transfer case?

So what are my options there? will they or wont they fit, or will I need the 1.3lt case and if so, is there anything else needed to make that case match the maruti driveline?

Any help with this would be great, as this is my first 1lt and maruti so its all new too me.

Yours is a WT maruti and should be VERY close to 1.3L specs. Also I have read on here that the engine mounts on the chassis are multifit.

Eg.
1.6EFI conversion with 5 speed gear box. As the maruti only has the 4spd box would I be correct in saying that when I get round to doing the conversion that I would be better off leaving the gear box on with the motor (if I pick up a wreck)

Fit a 5sp sierra box with it. Your tunnel is wide enough. If you use a 1L gearbox mount on the 1.3L box, it should bolt straight in. The Vitara Gearbox will not fit in the tranny tunnel with out mods. If you want to use the vit box you will need something like This. It will work with the manual if you don't use the output shaft bush

Then theres the transfer case.
I plan to run 31's so I was going to order the 6.5 gears (planning on doing this before the engine conversion) But apparently the 6.5 crawler gears dont fit the 1lt transfer case?

Its a maruti 1.0L WT case. Other than for the flanges and gear ratios it is identicle to a 1.3L sierra in every way.

So what are my options there? will they or wont they fit, or will I need the 1.3lt case and if so, is there anything else needed to make that case match the maruti driveline?

See above

Any help with this would be great, as this is my first 1lt and maruti so its all new too me.

Also note that unless you do FULL RUF ( which moves the front diff forward 30-40mm) you will need a 1.3L sump and pickup.

Another thing to consider is the height of the motor. You will need to be carfull with your engine mount brackets and the 1L bonnet. Even though you have a BL kit, you may need to lower the mounts slightly to keep the engine under the bonnet height.

yeah I was planning on getting a 1.3lt bonnet, the one i have now has a couple of holes in it where the previous owner thought a bug deflector would look good :gross:

thats good news on the tranny case, gearing would be in the near foreseeable future when the bigger rubber goes on so thats definatly first. i think locktup got em on special for 699 at the mo...

the engine down the track a bit...in regards to engine mounts i read somwhere VL commonwhore ones can be used as there alot stronger as well

For the tranfer as just an idea try and find a cheep one that needs a rebuild to put your new gears in and then sell the 1 lt one, there is always someone looking for one

Yes definately use VL engine mounts, but you may need to mod the brackets that attatch them to the block. But with a 1.3L bonnet and BL I doubt you will need to.

I think I've confused myself.....

So I can rebuild my 1lt transfer case with crawler gears, ratios aside, but I dont understand why the flanges would need to be changed?

If i'm using the same case, same shafts, and only changing the internals, whats the flanges got to do with it?

You don't need to change the flanges.

If you use your 1lt case and swap gears into it you wont have to worry about changing flanges
If you use a 1.3lt case you will need to use the flanges of your 1lt case

i think you should send you case to me.. :P

if you intend on going w/t's you may want to get some 3.9's & change all your flange's at the same time, save dicking round..

Why 3.9s, 5.12s are the goodest.

I have 4.11s, an on 31s they are ok, but the rev range for 33s are not correct, unless I go to a 1.6l

With my maruti on 28.5s, I can do, a GpS speed of over 100, on 31s, same GPS, its do-able, but rare, dirty great big wide tyres come into play here.

At 100kph running my 31s, the revs are, as close as I can make out, about 34,00 ish, sounds fine by all accounts, but it cannot hold that anymore, she dies somewhat uphill, and with a head wind, where as with the 28.5s, faster, better holding power, and better fuel economy.

So maybe i'm wrong, but it seems to me that the little 1.3 needs lots of revs, being a big block man, its really hard to understand, but I am going with how the performance steps up to the mark.

Naa mate, I was tricked, bought it sight unseen, was told all sorts, but still, soon as I saw it, its love at first site.

She is a maruti, NT with minya 1l diffs, but, she does have the big block 1.3l donk, an is registered as such. Thinking of a 1.6l, but not sure if I want to go the head fuk of a baleeno injected, or a simple carb job.

I do have lots of stuff to put in her, but I have to source a set of WT diffs, then the 5.12 Rn P goes in, an, still tossing up which way to go, but recon as she will get YJ springs.

I do so wish that anyone of the fantastic fabricators that are here would make a kit for us er, non fabricators to buy, so we could fit a SC14 supercharger. mmmmmmmmmm
