Same gears. 4.55 and 4.88 ratios. The leaf spring models were low pinion fronts, and the coil models had high pinion. There were also 2 different sized rear diff centres. One had bigger bearing than the lux diffs.

there is no such thing as a leaf sprung bundera, or are you saying that hilux had the low pinion fronts?

the bundy's (RJ70) were only ever coil. they made a short wheel base cruiser (BJ70) that was the exact same shape, a few had the FRP roof as well, that was leaf but the bundera badge was only ever specifically for the coily's.
don't quote me on model numbers

What's the point in engineering if they can just take it away anyway. In the long run ppl won't bother and there will be more illegal cars then b4 as there's no point wasting the money

Exactly.
Its a shitty system over here. In the states, aslong as you pass the SMOG test, you are legal

whatdo you mean "they can just take it away anyway" ??
if i do a mod that outside my engineers cert and got yellow stickered, i'd have to return it to the engineers cert specs and re-run over the pits for inspection... theyre not going to take the car or claim my already engineered mods are illegal.
as for just passing an emmissions test to be legal - thats crappier than the strict laws here... still allows for dodgy engineering to be driven on the roads.
what we should have here is automotive engineers in charge of whats safe and whats not, not a transport authority setting rules that stop all beneficial modification.

I think you will find that your 'engineer' is part of a registerd group who can mod plate and comply changes to vehicles based on the ADR's at the time. But unfortunately, the engineer is not the regulatory body, and as such, his decissions are not finite. The DOT still has the authority to overturn the engineers allowance of modification if they see fit to.
There was reports of a SWB up here that had been engineered with SPOA on hilux diffs. The guy had custom high steer made, brakes, did x-rays and destruction testing on all fabricated parts. He even passed all the swerve tests etc. He got his 'engineering cert' and thought he was fine. The one day he happened upon a machinery at the side of the road and they gave him a laudry list of defects, and ignored the engineers reports. He had clearly done EVERYTHING required to get the cert. but at the end of the day some moron with puple lights on his car said it wasn't enough.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that mods neednt be engineered, only that the engineering process isn't fool proof either.

over here you apply to the DoT with your proposed mods, they give you conditional approval to begin work, then you get a consulting engineer for that process - he is present for all testing including lane change test, then he write up the engineers cert. and send that to DoT as well as giving me a copy. I then take all my paperwork and the car over the pits for inspection by DoT's guys (mechanics that never made it in the real world) - they check over whats been done and check basic safety like brake lines rubbing, lights working etc, you pay $80 for the pleasure and you get your final approval paper.

Be careful where you buy from also.
People tend to lie, then sell smashed diffs.
