I'm looking to install my 6.5's pretty soon, but wanted to make sure I had all my bases covered before getting stuck in.

So at the moment I only have the 6.5 gear set, and shifter bushes. What else will I need to pretty much refresh the whole lot, I have never driven it so dont know the current condition but figure I might as well do it while it's apart, Will this cover it, or can I purchase from elsewhere thats cheaper but has only what I need? http://locktup4x4.com.au/suzuki-sierra-89/drivetrain-109/transfer-case-rebuild-kit-393.html

I know now I should have just ordered it with my gearset but I really didnt think ahead when ordering

Hey man do u already have 6.5 gears in the transferecase ? or did u buy a rebuild the re build kit shouldnt be really hard to install the gears them self are pritty easy to install the instructions from Trilgear are very good...but i do sugest u need a few things u should buy a small press ..from supercheap auto ..also u will need a rattle gun or a big peace of pipe to get the flage nuts off ... thats the hardest bit of the job ...

do new bearings and counter shaft. You will hate yourself if you don't change them and its noisy

i think i changed everything in my transfer case and its still noisy lol tough thats in 3rd gear and above

yer man wasnt noisey untill i put gears in it dont bother me that much u can just here it wind up so the speak anyways enuf about me

if you have already put gears in it, then thats why its noisy. The 5.14's and up tend to whine alot more.

yeah they all whine. Haven't seen a 6.5 yet that hasn't been quite vocal

I havent even opened the transfer yet, I have all the tools side of things covered I'm pretty sure if not my mates workshop is not far away. I just wasnt sure what else I should be replacing while I had it open.

I think I'll just get a bearing kit to be on the safe side, do it with the gears

a press will make it 100 times easier. I got one from super cheap when they had a sale....$49

Contact weaves on hear regarding bearings.. Cheap as and top quality.just got mine through him and he was about $40 cheaper for a ferret quality product.

can you buy just the gaskets from anywhere? All I can find is rebuild kits with gaskets and bearings

just use gaskit goo.... yes weaves is allot cheaper then most i tend to use him for everything even things that don't really relate to bearings

press is a great idea, but if you put one end of the shaft on some wood and have a rubber mallet, and think about what your doing, it can be done that way

last 2 times i rebuilt a Tcase i only used my press once and my bearing puller the rest.

I would replace the front output shaft with the beefier version, not sure if it is necessary though.
Also, paper gaskets are supplied.
