Hi Auszookers

Thought I would finally stop by and say hello.

My GV needs some new struts and shocks as it feels like a boat to drive and it's still got 02 factory stuff in it with a bit of sag.

I've beeing looking through the availiable OME, Lovels, IronMan, Dobinson and Rancho kits. How on earth do you decide one over the other ?

What on earth does the Calmini kit I keep hearing about all over Auszookers have other a standard 4xCoil, 2xStrut and 2xShock upgrade ?

That's what it has, it's not just a spring lift, it's frigging awesome, but shit strutt's..

Cheers. Looks like it's going to be illegal here in QLD though so I'll have to rule that one out.

Whats the opinion on the other brands? How do I pick between them (apart from cost and warranty) ?

I've got the ironman kit in my GV, very happy with it but it is a little on the stiffer side. Also heard Dobinsons is good too.

Not too sure about the others, and there is quite a difference in price too. Either way what ever you choose it'll be 100 times better than the stock suspension you have now.

For a budget, local option I have a set of Dobinsons springs and struts from Outdoor Auto... These have been reasonably good so far in our 02 GV.

I had Lovells in mine for ages & was very happy with em, handled like a race car on road & still flexed well, but was a stiff ride.

Hello and welcome... i know exactly what you mean about the " Boat ", and the sag, he he, my GV had both, and the back end would just bounce with any sort of load in it, ha ha...

I got the Ironman lift kit as well, it was within my budget... yes they can be a bit on the stiff side empty, but i prefer stiffer, than softer, i carry a toolbox, and a box of other gear in the back, and that helps...
Dobinson are good also, they come in a 40mm lift, but are more expensive than the Ironman 35mm lift... i got 55mm lift in the rear empty with Ironman...
Definitely agree there shabz, its like driving a totally different car now, it handles like a sports car onroad, and i get twice the flex offroad, they make a huge difference...a complete suspension upgrade, if you can afford it, is the best way to go !

I have the full Lovells setup in mine and I'm very happy with it. Had for about 4 years now and the only thing I would do differently, iOS I wouldn't put in the coil spacers, but that's my fault, not Lovells.
If you decide to go with Lovells, I have a brand new set of rear shocks here that I can sell you cheaply.
