Getting some quotes on sunnrasia rims for my new 225 80 15s and a few places have said that as soon as you put bigger tyres on jimnys the steering starts shaking or something around 80 just checking if you have any problems with 15x7 rims and bigger tyres. I have a slight tyre shake but nothing to worry about aroun 70? Thanks guys!

i have the same problem with mine. not 100% sure what the go in.

i've even put a steering damper made it better for awhile.

when yours happens is it crazy shaking or is it just a small wobble and you can accelerate through it?

2005 jimny vvt

i was running 30's but now i'm back to standard tyres.
still does it abit though.
i'm going to take all my suspension out and bring it to standard.
see if that does anything, if not put the sway bar back on.

pretty sure i'm gonna sell it anyways.

yeah no worries.

i think its probably worth investing in buying the "Full suspension kits"
for the jimny, as i only went shocks and springs.

this could also be the reason.

Just went 2 inch dobinson coils and longer shocks.

There is a lot of info about the wobbles in this thread. I have just bought a stabilizer and will be getting that and new bushes fitted.

Mid 09 the VVT was an all the range, so they stopped putting Vvt badge's on em..
before that if Vvt, it said so on the front guard's...

Sounds like the shakes could be to do with castor?
Putting a steering dampner on is just masking the problem. also check for worn components

After reading many tech threads and other posts about Jimny wobbles it seems that it is one of the wonderful design features that have been built in to the machine.
I have always had a wobble at 78K/hr I have found that this can be amplified into a death wobble with glutiness mud sticking to the rims. (Wail nursery Dimboola, standard rims and tyres).
Check for anything that can cause an unbalance, from mud, cold tyres, tyre pressures, to uneven wear. It seems the short wheel base and the rim/tyre size simply set up a bad harmonic. Any home remadies please tell me .
