almost need new tires.... and i don't want to put the standard size back on because you can only get them in road ties...
plan on only going up one size to 215/75's and from what i hear you need a lift to fit them under. plus the car should handle better on and off road if I get a nice kit.

I know a few of you have done lifts on jimmy's and if you guys could give me any tips on what works and what doesn't it would be really helpful.

before you ask i only plan on lifting her 40 to 60mm with a coil and shock kit. i want a quality kit and don't mind spending a bit more if it's worth the extra dollars. i plan on putting it in myself as i have access to a workshop with a hoist. and yeah want a kit the preforms.

well we have a 07 jimny has a 25mm tjm " a$$holes" spring lift and we just got a price on old man emu shocks to suit :D $91 each shock so we will be going with them as

dobson shocks = $140 each shock

tjm shocks = $500 pffft sif im paying that and they where trying to tell me they need to compress the springs to put the shock on when they aint coil overs ha ha ha :S:S

just with the spring lift and 235/75/r15 federal courgia M/T's our jimy is near un stoppable just need a front lokka now :D

this is her flexing on stock shocks but with the tjm springs only 25mm lift

keep up the wheel alignments and runs the right pressures and there fine :D they do make a mean road noise lol like a big 4wd :D

as for the number ahh it dosnt matter cause its all legal and if someone wants to steal it lol its insured :D:D but dont we love it ha ha

the jimny is our good car lol and we also have a suzuki sierra 85 high top, has a 2" lift kit, 2inch extended shackles, full chassis and under body rust proofing, bull bar with scrub bars and side steps getting rid of the side steps soon. and atm its running 215/75/r15 cooper discovery's stt untill the 235 come along :D:D and cleaned up alot, looking for a new rear door though ha hah a and got my extractors ready to go on when i get cash for the rest of the exhuast system ha ha ha.

i also took the sway bar off the sierra today, its not as stiff as it usually is. and it flexs way easier cant wait to test it out prolly

full ome 40mm kit from mach 1 auto one the quoted $634. a local 4wd shop quoted 850 for the same kit. tough dog quote $940 on there website for a 40mm lift. another shop in town quoted 1600 for a 60mm lift.

all quotes don't include fitting as i am doing it myself =]

hmm mach 1 auto one stuffed up. charged me for one spring fount and rear instead of 2... so it's 900 not 630....

Im also looking at lifting my 03 Jimny, interested in the tough dog 80mm kit. Any1 know much about this kit?

I've had a few stages of lift on my Jimny over the years.

Firstly I installed 40mm King Springs, which I still run, and after lots of off road and beach work are still sitting level after about eight years. I ran these with standard shocks which were fine.

Then I swapped from 215/80/15s to 235/75/15 which rubbed so I installed 20mm urethane spring spacers. These fixed the rubbing but the shocks were too short so I swapped to Tough Dogs (correct length for 80mm lift).

For no other reason than looks I swapped the 20mm spacers for 50mm. I currently run 215/75/15 which no longer even hint at rubbing. Once you lift more than 60mm the brake lines are too short and the axles will be noticeably off centre due to the angle of the panhard rods. I've installed adjustable heavy duty versions. I also had to fabricate a sway bar mount that lowers the bar by 50mm. When I'm off road I disconnect it but it's much safer having it connected on road.

In regards to the swaybar, i think it will depend on the age of the vehicle possibly as to whether a modification is needed. My 06 version has a set of 'spacer' type parts joined between the chassis and the initial part of the arm by a 2nd bolt (like this from factory) so even with the same level of lift as zukenutter, my swaybar was perfectly fine as is.

was really easy and the jimny is so much better to drive now!
on and off-road it's just a lot nicer to handle. the extra height should help too!
now for tyres! she looks a bit funny with the standard ones now....

yeah its taken me a wile but i have been busy =]

new 215/75 tyres are on and i painted the rims black. striped all the paint off the rims with paint stripper before i painted it. man paint stripper is nasty stuff! but it looks awesome now =]

The 80mm TD kit is very firm around town, but perfect off-road, if i was to do the 80mmTD again(which i would) i would not get the TD shock for the rear, i would get ranch adjustable s for the back just to soften the ride for around town. But from what i have read having rachno's all around with the TD springs the ride is to soft.

So TD 80mm springs all round, TD shocks upfront and ranchos and the back
