i know everyone says 'u need a switch type transfer case'
but is that the only difference between a switch type and non switch type?
if i wasnt bothered about whether or not my dash tells me im in 4wd, would i be able to use a non switch type transfer case in my 92 sierra?
thanks.

the switch is just the easy way to identify the desirable case
the bits you cant see are all teh splines on the input and output shafts are the same as a 1.3 case so all your 1.3 flanges will fit straight on and you can use your original tail shafts
the non switch one you need to adapt your shafts with strange unis and stuff, doable but not as nice

if you're mechanically minded and enjoy messing around ie. not being able to bolt in and go straight away, then I'd almost lean towards the non switched type as the price difference is huge!

i love messing with things.. just really wanted to know if it would fit with some love.
im a fitter adult aprentice, and i was thinking of making a adaptor plate/tailshaft spacer, that acted like a wheel spacer, with one pcd to go onto the transfer case, and the right pcd for the wt tailshafts.
would help out with me moving my diffs out too. (ruf and corolla springs)

Interestinly, Suziworld and Suzistore both insist that the speedo cable is the same on all the 1L and 1.3L cases.
But its NOT.
You also need the speedo cable. The no light one has a gear that slots in the end and all the ones afterwards just have a slot.
If you get the 1L no light case, 1.5 unis with the clips on the inside and 3 1l yokes to put them in, and the speedo cable. I say if you can get all that for $250 then go for it otherwise keep saving and get gears.
you can just make out on the Jack shaft above the 1L yoke on the 1.3L drive shaft, the clips on the driveshaft are on the outside and you cant see the ones on the yoke as they are on the inside.

What? I had a 1.3 case in a non light 1 litre, cable fit fine?
Also had a non light case in a WT, also fitted fine?
Your description there is confusing me

are you talking about where the cable screws into teh side or where you undo the M6 bolt and slide the whole drive gear out?
