Hey just wondering if any ones knows were you could buy or get brand new wt axles for a Sierra
Or is it better To spend te money why te dollars are good nd get cromolys front axles and HD rear axles

The wt axles I have now have a bit of play were the spline goes into the center and I want to replace them

Meh - spline wear is the last thing I'd worry about. Drive them until they break IMHO.

Then step up to cromo front. There's no point spending more money on less axle. DT's are so cheap it's a no brainer.

Leave the rear alone. By all accounts the cromo rears aren't much of an improvement over stock. If you really want to upgrade the rear end (and I'd only do it if you have a problem with axle breakage) look at Joe's floater kit, which is a much better upgrade than just some HD axles.

I don't really care about breakage it's just I'm doing a full rebuild and I don't want some thing that's weared already that will wear down a new part if you no what I mean

I'll be getting airlockers soon so the stock axles should hold up right?
I'm only running 30's with 4.16 gears

It should be very hard to break a stock front axle with 30's and 4.1 gears, however if you are buying airlockers, then why not buy two rears and upgrade the front to DT's while you are at it.

It's more expensive to upgrade a front airlocker to 26 spline to accept a DT axle later on than it is to buy DT's now.

I'd argue it's pretty hard to isolate the wear to the axle spline. I'm guessing the stub axle spline to free wheeling hub, the CV, the side gears, and the cross shafts are all a bit worn. It's not really a concern, especially in the front where it's only used intermittently.

I've pulled apart 25 year old diffs, welded them, put them back together, flogged them on 34's for 18 months - when pulled apart, they still didn't really have much spline wear.

As I said, I would have worried about it, but as you have mentioned buying lockers, it would be silly not to upgrade now- there doesn't have to be another reason except buying the locker.

you can break them on standard tyres with a locker just depends on driving style, find a 2ndhand pair in good nick is the best bet, some people never have a prob while others snap them everytime they go out.

Is there any other advantage putting a rear in the front so you can run 26 axles

Im gonna get cromoly For the front and just stock a couple of rear axles so when I break one I can replace it

DT=Double Tough = Trail Tough's cromo front axles.

All cromo front axles are 26 spline, so yes, the only advantage of upgrading to a rear locker for the front is to run 26 spline axles.

All cromo front axles also run exactly the same CV and stub axle. the difference between a, say, Spidertrax cromo axle and a Trail tough double tough is the maker of the inner axle.

However, spending $1K on a front airlocker and then wiping out a 22 spline inner axle would be annoying, no?

I'll add that generally, the 22 spline inners don't go until you've added birfield rings to the stock CV's.. because you're sick of breaking stock CV's.

I'll be running a front locker first untill I save up for a rear one
So I'll get a RD88 locker for the front and run the DT axles and run the standard rear axels and just replace as they break
If they keep breaking I might consider Joeblows axel kit

I think that's a great way to go.

I think there's approximately 0.0000000001% chance of you breaking a stock rear axle with 30's. If you do though, there's lots of other good reasons to go to a floater, like rebuildable rear wheelbearings and discs.

Should be a nice reliable setup.

I run 32.8" tyres on stock rear axles and never had a drama...
Don't stress Aaron.. You've got to do some pretty crazy/stupid driving to break a rear axle.

I have all but ruined the splines on my rear axles from a g16b and 29s.

So I'm just not taking the chance now the j20 is going in.

Imo if you can afford to upgrade you should.
