How are you getting hung up on the fuel tank? Big ruts will have you diffing out before your fuel tank becomes a problem.

If you really want to move the tank just go up 2" (you said you have a body lift) and put a bash plate on it. If it was me i'd be doing it with a Vit tank, for the reasons Gwagonsteve mentioned.

It's possible if you think about it. Going along ruts, steep climb in front= stuck on tank.

I don't think it would be hard at all to hit the tank? I've dragged the hell out of my towbar and if it wasn't there I'm sure it would have been the tank (because I've put a small dent in the tank as well...)

If there's a big crown between the ruts and then the car climbs sharply it's quite easy to get caught on the tank.

On it's last trip, we holed the tank on the grey car in the photos.
