oil spray/leak

Looks like I've sprung an oil leak, or a spray, noticed a couple of drops of oil in the garage and had a look under my car.

It appears the oil has sprayed up underneath and has slowly come together to drip.

I've been told it could be the transfer case out put seal, the mechanic has cleaned the transfer case so we could try and locate the leak, the only thing its achieved is burning gear oil smell.

maybe the rear transfer output seal

did anybody else notice the wire wrapped around the end of the drive shaft??? i don't that is meant to be there, or is it....

and no i dont know where your oil is coming from but maybe it is running down onto the drive shaft and then been spun off.

race tape to replace missing boot ...

under the jimny..

i can see this is going to turn it to a discussion about wat is wrapped around ur shaft lol (wasnt meant to sound dirty)

I took off the rear tail shaft today to have a look for my self. So after draining the transfer case oil and removing the 4 bolts for the tail-shaft, pulled on the shaft to get it to come away and when i did a cup full of oil came out. is this supposed to happen, or is that area inside supposed to be free of oil. thanks

No i am not filling it up through the shift hole, not sure how you would do that. I recently bought and oil seal for the output shaft to replace the leaking one and the leak still continued, not to the extent that is was before but still the tiniest splattering of oil, i thought it might have to lap-in or something until it made a good seal but no luck yet, it's been about 4 day's of "going to work" driving since this post, GOT ANY IDEA'S ANYONE.
PS: to sum up this thread, the leak is definitely coming from the oil seal inside the rear output shaft flange. 100% (i thought i would add this because when i first noticed this problem and look for a cause and solution, there was no definite answer/solution ) also illustrated in the thread 'http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4765&highlight=jimny+transfer+leak"

haha yeah mine is still leaking....

just fop it up every 6 or so months...
takes less then 100ml

There are only 2 thing's that an leak from between the flange's there..
1. transfer oil from out of the spline, seeps past the nut.
For this you can tighten the not, I have in the past used silicon on the nut end of the spline..

2. the Suzuki grease in the Cv once hot looks a lot like g/oil, you can re-pack with molly.
But the Cv's once apart don't always like to be put back together..

the leak i had and mentioned early has now completely stopped on it's own, that's after replacing the oil seal. thanks guys!!!!!!!
