G'day fellas,

Got a few questions tonight. This is for a corolla 4k engine in my sierra.

Did a compression test today, got around 1000-1100 kpa on all four cylinders, does this seem a bit low?

I did the compression test because I am getting some white smoke from the oil cap especially when the engine is cold and can feel air blowing out of the oil cap once it is warm (smoke disappears).

So I am a little confused as to where I am at the moment Dad and I thought 1000 kpa would be heaps of compression but then seems like there is warn rings and heaps of blow by (but by no means are we mechanics).

Anyone know what might be the answer?

Thanks,

Jackson

G series motors have a positive displacement sump so the wind blowing out your cap is normal.

White smoke, hmmmmm, can you describe better. Oil is blue, fuel is black, steam is white.

White smoke, ok, what temperature are you taking about, if its cold, its condensation, and is normal.

Is this happening on start up only, when she is at full running temp or when someone is behind you when you are powering on, ???

Thanks for the reply.

It's a corolla 4k so I am not sure if it is the same sump as a G series motor.

The smoke is definitely white. Can be seen coming from under the rocker cover seal (it is getting pretty old) but if I remove the oil cap it comes out of there.

The smoke is not there when the motor is at operating temp. Haven't been able to drive it much yet so all this is while stationary.
