the MRS and i have to buy a new car but cant really find what we want
anyway we were at the mitsubshi dealer yesterday and he is also the suzuki dealer
and they have a brand new 2.4 gv but a 2010 model for cheap, well at least they told us it
was for cheap. 34000.

they look big enough and the tow rating is high enough however are they any good?
we need a car that can handle dirt roads and a bit of light bush driving, also need a
proper steel bullbar.

anyone own one? what do ya think?

Shep we had an 08 GV, but we had the V6 model.

anyway, in stock form they're great. we took it out to kakadu...as you would know that dirt road into it is terrible (currugated) sat on about 100 and it took it beautifully.

the V6 was a little thirsty at times...but it sure did move. very handy when over taking.

if we didn't have to downsize at the time...it would still be in my driveway.

i wanted the 2.4 but couldnt find one for the price i wanted to spend.

the 2.7 v6 is great though. cumfy. grunt.

not sure how you will go with steel bullbars though

I bought a 2008 ex demo Gv for the wife and she loves it. Its only the 2.4ltr manual. It had just under 1500kms on it and we payed under $28,000 for it. ($24,500 with trade in).

Since buying it we have lifted it and fitted some 225/75R16 BFG All Terrains. It goes like stink. Its alot more comfy than my 2000GV and has heaps of power for a 4cly. On paper it has more go than the H25 V6.

Ive had it off road a few times in the Vic high country and it performed as expected. Suprised a few Big trucks for where it could go even when stock. If you do buy one you will not be dissapointed.

there are some out there but most are alloy. More and more stuff is becomming available for them as the shape has been about since late 2005.

i think arb are one of the only few steel ones available, most of the alloy bars look terrible IMO.

I've had a diesel for three years/40,000 km now. It is not the most refined or powerful motor out there but it's not exactly slow. It doesn't have any low down grunt like most diesels, you need 2000 rpm before anything happens.

No problems with reliability. Some early diesels had a faulty seal on the particulate filter. Mine was OK but the seal was upgraded via a recall.

The gearbox is terrible, even after 40,000 Ks it's still notchy.

When the car was new, fuel economy was a bit over 8 l/100. Now, with some miles on it, I'm getting 7.7. For offroading I have a set of 245/75 maxxis bighorns, with these on consumption goes up to 10 l/100.

Servicing can be expensive, the 15,000 service cost $390, at 30,000 it was $450. At either 75 or 90,000 they change the timing belt and its a $900 service.
