Hey guys, i'm jus wondering how to pull the rear brake assembly off the diff as i need to replace the bearing and seal. I know tht the end of the axle tht the drum attaches to has to come off to allow for the brake assembly to come off but i'm not too sure how to go about pulling the end part of the axle out???? I hope i have explained my problem enough. Help will be much appreciated.

mate your not even close

jack it up and get it nice and solid on stands, if you dont have stands give up now youll just die with a zook crushing you

pull the wheel off and then the brake drum, depending on what you actually have youll need to pull the handbrake cable off as well

then clamp the flexi brake hose and undo the solid line into the wheel cylinder with a proper flare spanner

then youll see 4 nuts poking through the brake backing plate undo them and the backing plate will come loose

now bung the brake drum back on back to front and stick some nuts on a few threads and pull it towards you hard and keep doing it till the axle comes free, you need to put some effort into it and youll soon see why I said you need good stands

I wont go into replacing the wheel bearing, there is a good thread about it on here somewhere or take it to a mechanic, its hard to stuff up but also easy to hurt yourself

you really have to lay into it sometimes, ive bolted the wheel back on to slide it and pop the axle before, with the car chained to a poll so it doesnt fall over

haha yeh i just went and pulled it off then. i ended up bolting the wheel back onto the drum to get more leverage on it. Now i'm just wondering where that thread for replacing the wheel bearings is? í'm guessing it would be somewhere in the tech chat??

its not all that hard.. i installed a lockright at the same time, and the rocky road bearing retainers so you can leave the brake assembly when changing axles.
everything works well.. havent tried it offroad yet but it clicks like a bastard when coasting round corners!

nah mate was all good..
grind em off. then use a cold chisel to smash em off.. most times the retainer and bearing will slide off with a bit of persuasion without having to go nuts.
getting the bearing on i used a bit of pipe that just fitted around shaft and hit it down. also i used a tip off the forums and put the locking collar in the oven for a bit before installing it. 100 degrees no higher just in case.
so yeh put the spacer on, bearing should almost slide on without much persuasion then the locking collar.
easy as.. :D
