DON'T CUT THE BAR OR CHASSIS!...on all the bar lifts i have done i have never cut the bar or the chassis, just made some simple mounts on top of the chassis. bear with me as i'm going on a trip in the morning for the long weekend. will try post some pics and or cad drawings when i get back.
I've done it like Joe says and it works fine. I just cuts some adapter brackets from some 5mm plate. They bolt to the chassis, then the bullbar bolts to them, easy. It does move the bar forward a little, but it shouldn't hurt your appraoch angle much. The shackles are usually the first things to hit anyway.
I do also have another ARB bar that has been cut and brackets welded to it. It works, but there are better ways.
