Doesn't matter, eye to eye between the spring and chassis mount is still the same.

Draw an invisible line between the two. It'll look the same as a straight shackle.

You can't have it all

You either choose:

Static Height

or

Comfort and flex.

Take your pick

im gona start with height and play with it until i like it.

that was the plan btw gwagensteve. to just get the big cheep springs. ensure i have enough clearance for my 235s and then drop some shackles on and pull some springs. what is the best way to go wit extended shackles are the boomerang ones the go or are the normal just as good?

You really need to read and learn some more mate.

First of all you will be able to clearing the tires is negligible from any such spring lift, because a spring lift is only a static lift. Meaning it only raised the car at ride height. The wheel/tire will still have the same maximum up-travel as the stock spring setup if the bumpstops haven't been touched and the springs are soft enough to actually travel all the way up to the bumpstop.

With 235's all that is required is a bit of guard massaging and some trimming of the bumper outriggers to get them to fit, irrespective of what springs you are using unless the centerbolt spacing is such that to tire rubs the firewall. In that case you would also redrill the spring perch.

Secondly, throwing on extended shackles to otherwise standard off the shelf lifted (unless they are super long) or stock length springs will increase the possibility and bending and destroying leafs, unless you space the bumpstop adequately to reduce the amount that the spring inverts. In effect you could end up with slightly higher static height, with minimal possible gain in flex, reduced castor and a car that handles like a turd escaping the next morning after a heavy night's drinking.

Overall barely anything to gain, many things to loose, not worth it IMO. Drop shackles, I thing you can search for that one yourself.....

Have a look at the members rigs on here that actually get away from the web wheeling and actually use their vehicles for the intended purpose and figure out how the set it up. You will be surprised how far a sierra with 235's and descent off the shelf after-market suspension that works well will go! That's provided you can actually drive and pick descent lines.

cheers for the help. im not sure if u saw that i mentiond i had planned to do the bumpstops in the post above. in my situation it is 100% necessary to do either a lift or new standard springs (if u can get them) because the tires wont fit under the gaurds. the only reason for the 3inch springs is because i can get them cheep, and combined with the commy hiace shocks i can do it for under 400bucks so even if i have to play with the springs a little it will be better for me as it will be cheeper than an off the shelf unit.

thanks for the info on the shackles btw it seems prety obvious that thats a stupid idear now that i think about it

u can see a link to my current springs above.
cheers
troy
