Hey guys,

I went to Suzi sport the other day and am thinking about the 2'' lift they offer, the guy told me that i wouldn't need to replace the fron suspesion. I was just wondering why that is. I would have thought that you would need to replace the front as the existing ones will fall 2'' short.

If you could fill me that would be fantasitc.

The front struts have enough length to cover the 2" lift.
I replaced the front struts as well as I felt that as I was replacing the rear shocks and coils around, than I might as well have all new parts.

Probably because he knows that with a 2" lift , you don't actully get the full 2 inches. If he checked the condition of your front suspension and found it was good , then may be he's done the right thing by you.
With my 2 inch lift I only got 30mm on the front and that was using a 10mm spacer which most people would agree equates to 20mm in actual lift. So really I only got 10mm lift from my supposingly 2inch.
I put in Kings springs and OME struts. In the rear I got 50mm but there again that was using a 20mm spacer.
Worth asking others if there have the same experince.
Also how many people take before and after measurements like i did.????

I'm happy with mine though , it looks good , sits good and rides well, so I'm not complaining - I just didn't get the hieght that was expected.
I'm running 225/70 Coopers AT's , so the car looks right, might be different if I had bigger tyres though.

Remember when you lift the front of vits you lose alot of down travel (due to the nature of IFS). If you replaced the struts with longer ones without dropping the diff you may run into problems with your CVs smashing. Thats probably what the guy was referring to.

Although 2" is a pretty safe height, when you're offroad bouncing off rocks the extra droop may be enough to smash a cv.

My old suspension kit was supposedly a 2.5" with a diff drop.... without BL and no guard chopping i was running 31s with a bit of scrubbing on full lock. With the 2" BL it was fine. Now in the process of installing a 3" calmini lift kit, which is looking alot more than 3".

I suppose its all about the brand of lift and the spring rates etc. Usually SWB vits get more out of a lift kit than the LWB (lighter).
