Today I took posession of some brand new off-the-shelf CV's/Stubbs for my Jimny.

They fit perfectly to the inner axles of my High-Grade Unbreakable Top-Of-The-Line Super-expensive Italian TrialJimny set.

... At a fraction of the cost.

Also, they do not require a birfield (which I was told I could remove, by the supplier "as they were not needed"), as the outer is about as big as they can get as part of the main casting. I will take some photos of the swap tomorrow and post.

Also purchased a compressor and tools today to make the job easier. Just need some impact sockets at some point for good measure.

I've been driving around without a RH CV for months so before I start, I gotta clean the diff oil off the wheel and housing.

Hopefully I'll get the sealed winch control box in under the bonnet at the same time, then Tipper will be ready for some action/fun/more repairs. Maybe even clean the rust off the roll cage and give that a coat to! Love Black ZINC

Suzisport Lawnton.

He only got 1 set (of CV's only) in for me to see if they fit, but I think he's gonna order some more kits in the near future.

They look the shit!

I think I looked into that, and no was the answer. I don't think they offer discounts to resellers.

My preference for a T-case mod will be the APIO 58 star gear set (and *maybe* coupled with a 12% trialjimny kit but unlikely for 2 reasons).

See, I am quite happy with high range for everyday driving on the 235/75/15's as it revs a lot lower overall, just have to rev first out before second when I want to get it moving else it bogs down. Also any incline on a highway means a gear drop (3rd - for actual acceleration) but thats not a concern.

Second reason is, I'd love to put a 1.8L Liana VVT in some day and that would more than compensate for the huge distance between 1st and 2nd, and the tyre size. probably even allow for 31's..

Oh, lets not forget the turbo

monkey: Yes, something like $3k~$5k I think
tanshi: As i said - a fraction of $1,800, so yes, even less than $800. Can't quote a figure because I got just the 2 CV's and he did me a spesh so pointless saying.

Would you not be better with a t-case swap to save the $$$s? and fit some 4.9's or something lower?

Thats a little rough before you know what they are. The axles are Cromoly and the CVs - imported from the states but can't remember their copmposition; I'll ask derek again tomorrow. The ball is as big as it can be. They are sold as aftermarket HD in the states, so here's hoping.

The TJ's were suppose to be STRONG as well, but I think the outer wall is a little thin as pointed out by Derek.

Here's hoping.

Ok, so who wants to give me a hand doing all this on the weekend. Didn't get a chance today.

Clean Diff oil off wheel and axle housing
Swap CV's
Make bracket for Winch Control box mounting under bonnet
Replace steering arm boot
Tighten steering and suspension
Clean up and Paint exo
Wash
Vac

Oh dear that is quite a list.

Seems I will have a nephew in about 8 months (so my sister reckons). He won't be much help in the early years though!

Ok, so I got the RF CV in this arvo and the 2 front wheels drive so the other is still in tact.

Only problem is, the locker does not lock.

I don't know what I am doing with these so I might take it to Darren for that one, which means it all has to come apart again *sigh* all that work
