Before you say search noob I've had a look and found a few threads on virtual lift, but I still have one question.

With the front guard, did anyone chop the firewall? Or what I'm guessing is that when RUF is done with the virtual lift the diff moved forwards cancelling the need for any cutting around the firewall region? I can't imagine department of transport would like you cutting into the firewall.

So it's a pretty noobish question, but at least I had a search.

I might do a how to as I hack up the car as I think this site is in need of a few of the more commonly done mods.

Cheers.

Yes you can cut your fire wall but, the accelerator peddle will touch and unless your running 31"+ in stock Sierra position fire wall mods are only hammer worthy.... Also there is allot of panel behind there..... Would be tricky to seal up again.....

Thanks mate,

only running 31's but thought I would cut the panels before I give the old girl a paint job, because I know if I don't now it will bite me on the arse later on.
I'll stay away from the firewall for now though ;)

if you can do a virtual lift you have the skills to move the diff foward
all you need to do is drill new holes in the spring perch and u bolt plate which can move the diff foward up to about 30mm if needed

A mate of mine took heaps out of his firewall,
rewelded in new bits,
and it was all legal and engineered.
His was to fit sr20de and auto,
he already had rears up front.

As long as it's plated back up and sealed I can't see it being a problem
When I did mine I cut it down the corner then a couple across ways belted them in and welded what ever touched then cut some plates for the left over holes then welded them in
Did a Lux the same way few months ago
I boged all my guards with a epoxy bog I made up so they all looked smooth and were all watertight
Then painted that black tar over it
It looked factory when done
