hey all,
in need of HELP! new to 4x4 and and zooks as just this week bought myself a blown up sierra with big plans in store.

i am in need a engine to replace my sierra 1.3 - the head is cracked and bottom end is 280 000km old and sad looking bores! the goods bits are my motor has new extractors and carby just rebuilt. so happy with these parts and wish to keep it carby just unhappy with the big lump inbetween.

i ask this because at my local pick a part there are balenos/swifts 1.3 and 1.6-8 valve and 16v but no vitaras or sierra engines

---IS it possible to fit a baleno 1.6 16valve bottom end {read these were a better balance engine} with a swift 1.3 carby head and use my original 1.3 inlet manifold/carby and extractors mated up to this combo?
or getting a baleno 1.6 8 valve carby motor and putting my manifolds on this long motor combo?

i understand i will have to change the camshaft to the one from my sierra so the dizzy will 90degree bend and miss the firewall as well as install the 1.3 to 1.6 adaptor pate for gearbox. are there any dramas with harmonic balancers/ timing belts headgaskets?

is there any dramas doing this and is it possible? what will be the better combo

any help and info much appreciated

you cant put an 8valve head on a 16 valve block
they will fit together but the recesses in the tops of the pistons for the valves are different
if you can get a g16a just use the whole motor vitara carbies are supposed to be better than sierra ones anyway

What Mike said about the pistons is right.

Cam wont swap from 8v engine into the 16v engine. I don't know if the bearing journals are the same size but the 8v wont have enough lobes to operate all 16 valves.

If you're dead set on using your existing head with a 1.6 bottom end you'll need to get some pistons from an 8 valve 1.6

If you do it let me know if you want to offload the 16v pistons :)
