ive got a sj40 1 litre sierra is there any engine conversion available for these or turbo kits ?

I don't think there is a 'bolt in option' as such. The 1.6 vitara swap with the appropriate adapter plate etc would be an easy enough swap in a later model Sierra. For some reason I 'THINK' the 1 litre mounts are different from the way a 1.3 litre is mounted, thus making most adapter kits redundant. The kit I a talking about uses the standard 1.3 litre gearbox. So this would need to be sourced and mounts etc fabricated also

There were 3 different versions of the SJ40, and each type has it's pro's and con's of engine swaps.

The Type 1 and Type 2 have a diferent chassis mount set-up to the later Sierras, and a 1.3 or 1.6 swap is difficult, made more complicate by the narow transmission tunnel that won't fit the larger 5 speed gearbox without panel work. For these Sierras, the most common engine swap was a Corolla or Datsun engine complete with the appropriate gearbox. Kits used to be done by companies such as Dellow and Hadfield's which included the bits you needed, but there was still a bit of fabricating and welding to be done.

The Type 3 had the same chassis design and transmission tunnel as the 1.3, so a 1.3 or 1.6 engine swap is fairly straightforward(although a body lift and/or a 1.3 bonnet is needed), as is fitting a Sierra 5 speed. A G16B would be all the engine you would ever need.

ANY engine swap (except the 1.3 Sierra in some states) would require engineering certification or mod plating, and insurance approval.
