You'll be fine

You only get wind up in the transfer when driving in 4wd with hubs locked on a hard or sealed surface. If you are in 2wd with hubs locked the transfer effectively acts like an open centre diff

If your locker is working properly you can drive around on the street all you like with the hubs locked in 2wd. I do it all the time, only ever unlock them if I'm driving it a bit further than normal and not going wheeling. Most times when I'm going wheeling I leave home with them locked and drive the 12km or so to the tracks, have some fun then drive home again, don't touch the hubs unless I bust a CV or something.

Not that I can see.
Not that I have felt.
I always lock my hubs early on 4wd trips,
that way when 4wd is needed,
front diff is oiled and warm.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but once again, you guys have answered my question. It came about when I went to lock the front hubs before engaging 4High on a back road short cut that I sometimes take, only to find that they were already locked. Since I'm starting to suffer from Old Timers Disease, I have no idea how long they had been locked. So my question was going to be, will I do any damage if I happen to leave them locked? Clearly, the answer is no.

Which leads to the next question. From a "keep it moving, keep it working" viewpoint, I figure that it's a good idea to engage 4High & 4Low from time to time & go for a bit of a hoot. Correct?

BTW, I am suitably impressed at the way the Zook hugs the dirt road when 4High is on. It just seems to go wherever I point it!

if you have it in 4wd (hubs locked) once a month that'll be enough... more important is to check the oil is topped up in diff and transfer and theres no water in there (milky oil).

as far as the zuk going where you point it, you musnt be going fast enough =) theres a point in a sierra where it transitions from a perfect corner to completely sideways, and it happens in a split second. good fun (sometimes).
