Hi all,

It's been a while. Late last year I bought my Sierra and after a few days of driving around and loving it, I noticed a terrible knocking sound. Took off the sup to find chuncks of piston No.4 sitting amoungst the oil.

Long story short I put a new G13B from a barina in (has done less than 50k) and it's all tuned and is running great. One thing I've noticed though is that I haven't had much of an improvement in top speed.

On the highway to work 90km/h the Sierra does not get there without pushing it quite hard. I recently took two of my mates home from work and it was difficult to keep it above 80km/h (top down if that makes a differnce). Am I expecting too much as far as speed is concerned?

Is there something that might be hindering my speed such as a poorly tuned carby etc?? Any guidence would be greatly apprecaited.

Are you using the stock carby setup? I'd be looking at that first. Timing right?

Import donks often have only been driven slowly,
and thus take time to re- run in.
Can be same for engines from Aus cars that only been driven carefully.

But checking timing, tuning, carby etc is wise.

It will never go fast with 3 people on board.

Should be able to cruise at 100 easily with those stock tires and a GC engine. Set/check the timing and make sure the vacuum actuator that pulls open the secondary throat has no leaks and holds vacuum. Then check that the hose to it isn't perished or blocked.

Are you talking about the secondary actuator of the carby and the lines etc that connect it?
