So i am new to these engines i have an ST20 carry van it has the lj50 engine i still don't know the power specs for this one tho i have a service manual for the ST10 carry that has an lj50 engine so i use this book for info now i find out that some things are not the same between the one sofar is the distributor i checked the ST10 book it says igniton timing 15 deg before top dead centre for engine speeds of up to 1000rpm and 23 deg btdc for engine speeds of 2000rpm and over. So i was checking the timing but it would not advance at all

so i pull the distributor out to check it and there is no advance

now that said there is a sticker on the alternator that says timing 23 deg +/- 1 deg. the ST10 manual says engine power is 30HP at 4500rpm and 39.8 lb-ft of torque at 3000rpm. with a 5.9 to 1 compression ratio.
Now the LJ50 4wd engine has 33HP at 5500rpm and 41.6 lb-ft of torque at 3500rpm with a 6 to 1 compression ratio. Do these engines have an advace system in there distributors? As i don't know what specs and power the ST20 is ment to have does anyone have the info?
Cheers jamie
