Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a swift GTi in the coming months for a daily.
I just want to know if there is anything in particular I should be looking for or any common problems.

Looking anywhere between Melbourne and Adelaide, as i'm located in the middle of both lol.

Cheers,
Alex

^^^^ pretty much sums it up except the hunting can be the CSV also which is an easy fix

Have a look on redlinegti.com

They're a very zippy car even in stock form....great on fuel and the engines can take an absolute flogging
I'd suggest you do a compression test before you buy one though ;)

Thanks guys.
Are these cars prone to rust in certain spots??

I'd love to perform a compression test on a car before I buy it but I dont think that's realistic for me to do.

I had a SOHC in Sydney and the thing hammered. I gave it an absolute flogging before it ran outta rego and I drove the sierra on it...OOPS.

I want a DOHC one though. I seen one on carsales that had all the jazz/bling; rims, tint, head-deck....but bit wary of something like that cos it basically sounds like FLOGGED.

When I wrecked a 95 GTI, there was plenty of rust behind the tail lights. That was about all I can remember in terms of rust. Just to help back up Masters fuel consumption claim, In my GTI sierra I average 8.5-9 L/100km. thats over about 5 tanks of fuel in varying driving conditions.
