you probably found it already but if you push the spring across in the slot it will lock in and off you go.

I have a 4 ton hand puller in a hard case,
bought it from ebay a year back, mainly to use for an engine lifter.
Had a 1 ton version for 25 years, was great for pulling out Mokes.
But the Vits too heavy for that, it killed it.
Hence the 4 ton.

They are not ideal as a winch,
but better than nothing for us less opulent types
(read cheap bastards :) )

Also handy for when needing side ways or rearwards winchings.
