Just wondering if anyone knows the wiring colour codes for a '01 model Jimny before I go rush out and buy one tonight?

Not sure what ill get yet though, thinking of spending around $300, all I really want is iPod connectivity. Always had a soft spot for Alpines and Kenwoods though..

easily found in the wiring manual section of the service manual pdf. dont have it on hand.

but you should be able to find an adaptor plug that will fit the factory loom at super-cheap. then just cut the plug off and solder the plug that comes with the stereo on to it. then you dont need to hack the factory loom

oh that sounds much simpler than crimping each wire together like I've done in previous cars.. why didn't I think of that lol

Not a big fan of Kenwood. Had real issues with their warranty.

I quite like JVC stuff. Have had a good run. Check out Repco, Supercheap JB HiFi and other catalogs. Always deals going on.

I am waiting for a unit that essentially has no head an can be controlled with an android app on a 7" tablet. That will fit nicely into the double din space in a late Jimny dash. They are getting closer from what I have read.

Sounds alright, do you just play songs straight off the tablet?

Yep, thats the idea.

Add Bluetooth phone connectivity, Sat nav. Perhaps even rear bluetooth camera (if they are available), video of course, skype, you name it.

I had an original Samsung Galaxy TAB that woould have been perfect till it was stolen from my work vehicle on my own driveway! I miss that thing. It was fantastic. I had flashed the ROM with 'Overcome'.
