Hey guys
My vit's playing up a little.
Sometimes when I go to start it, and turn the key, I get nothing. Dash lights up, turn the key, bubcus...

Sometimes if i put it in drive and park a few times, it kicks over and im on my way.
I've done some reading and looks like this may be an inhibitor switch issue. Some sort of sensor on the side of the tranny that detects if its in park or not.

Is there anyway to bypass this, or is there a fix. Or will i hace to replace it from suzuki.

any help appreciated.

I've run a bypass switch for my starter,
normal way works most times, so left that circuit in
and extra button on dash is used when it don't fire.

Be careful, though, a bypass will start in any gear, and you may drive it accidently

I have also fitted a relay to the starter.
So my extra starter switch fires the relay too.
Power to a high amp switch, then back to the relay.

?mostly it starts with a wobble of the T-bar

well im thinking its that or the starter motor....
Havnt had a starter motor issue for over 10 years, cant remember if its the same symptoms.

So in theory, I could hot wire a switch to starter motor and battery? put the ignition to on, and then flick the switch (or button) which would crank the starter?

Sound about right?

Yeh, or you could also try starting it in neutral if park doesn't work, I know I've done that successfully with autos before!

If its a starter buy a starter, the are cheap. If its a selector switch on the auto buy one of those they are cheap. Or you could half-ass it and bypass everything.

Yes thats right. Had a few cars like that over the years.
Try it with a jumper lead or wire, see if it is the inhibitor, before wiring in a switch..
It most likely is.
Never tried to buy or fit one, so no idea if its hard or expensive

It's pretty common. My shifter needs a little bump from time to time to get it to start.
