Ok I've got a stupid question. Especially since I rebuilt my transfer myself and I should remember. Is the low range gearing completey separate fom the high range or is the low range gearing stepped down from the high range gear. I ask as I was wondering with my 4.9 transfer gears if it's possible to use the stock high range but have the reduced low range. Is it just a matter of putting my stock high range gear back in?

no they are dirrectly connected with the intermediate shaft. the only way you could would be to chop and change gears but that would not be advisable. how come you want stock high range?

Because I'm getting old hehe. Above 3500rpm the zook gets damn noisy. I figure once my supercharger is on that it should have enough power to sit on 110 at around 3000rpm. But I'd still like the low range that I've got now. Its a case of wanting my cake and eating it too I guess.

what model is it? if it is a NT you could put WT centres into the diffs to drop it 5%? there may be other diff/transfer combo's you could try?

just put ear muffs on, that's what i do.

i'll swap you my 4.16 case for your 4.9 case. that will give you a bit more highway driveability without losing too much lowrange.

put bigger tyres on it!! if it on 30's with the 4.9's it is only 1% lower than stock or go 31's and it is 3% over. and with 33's you will sit right on 3000! you know what you have to do

All good suggestions. A fast one and a slow one is what I really should be doing. Problem is the black one is faster and slower already than the green one lol. Maybe time for a dual case project..........lol
