Iv just finished off putting in a 2nd hand motor.. fan-clutch including dizzy.. have put what wires I believe are right to the correct plugs.. but still not getting a spark.. Is there a REAL basic wiring setup I can follow to double check?! thought it may of been due to immobilizer, but that side of things all seems to be ok.. push the button and dash lights come on as per previous engine.. Only thing I can really think of is Iv either got a plug arse about someware.. would of liked to have had running today, but darkness fell and its starting to do my head in BIG TIME.. Gave the wiring diagram that has previously been posted a once over, but buggered if I can make much sense of it.. basically after a REAL simple diagram, to get it started and double check alls ok, and then be able to hand over to an auto sparky, or figure out a way to clean up some of the spaghetti myself. G13A, nothing overly complicated(apparently..) Previously Iv had no issues.. tis the 3rd or 4th motor thats gone into the Drover..

Assume new motor was running as is before you got it, I would check if dizzy has same internals as your old one. If not replace it with yours and while you there if its a points one check them. Else I would hot wire the motor, gear box in netural, wire from pos battery and kick her over to see if it runs, if it does the immobilizer needs work

am going by what I was told that the motor was a runner.. when removed, coolant was fresh, with no nasty surprises etc. previous motor was a 1298 this ones a 1324, not that it makes any difference wiring wise.. parts wise.. have plenty of dizzys..
I know assumptions are the mother of all fuckups.. but im assuming it (carb-idle up etc) is wired up all ok..
Immobilizer wise, the easiest way to explain it is a cut off for the ignition.. ie: turn key one click(acc) next click(dash lights[immobilizer works here in that: no dash lights, push button on key fob and dash lights illuminate-immobilizer disabled..)
previous engine was running a 4kcarb.. this ones got a stock sierra.. cant recall the wiring(if any) for the stock unit. so again.. assuming its all plugged up right..
I can get it cranking, just dont have spark.. is there a way to check the coil is producing? or if theres a wiring schematic for coil and loom?
as far as I can tell.. everything I unplugged.. has been plugged in and is correct.. I guess pictures tell a thousand words.. and if there was enough light.. Id grab some.. but unfort. will have to wait till tomorrow afternoon to do that..

To test your coil put a test light on one of the tabs the light should be on while cranking the other should flash the light while cranking. I can't quite remember but I think the + of the coil should have power all the time and the earth flashes.
If both sides are always on while cranking it means your dizzy isn't triggering the coil. I'm going to guess its this. Did your 4k happen to have an electronic dizzy conversion? If so throw away the external igniter and run the wires from your dizzy to the coil.
If both sides of the coil are dead it just means it isn't getting power.

I reckon your dissy wiring is up the shit
youll have 2 wires from the wiring loom, 2 wires from the dissy and 2 terminals on the coil
the 2 wires on the dissy, the brown goes to coil positive, the other to negative
the 2 wires from the wiring loom, the black/white one goes to positive, the other to negative
should go then

Owe you a beer Royce. the ignition description provided helped immensely. turns out I did have a wire arse about on the dizzy.. that brown sucker with the white tracer..from the loom, I had it plugged directly into the solid black one from the dizzy... replugged it accordingly and away she goes so a BIG bloke. Thanks to all those who posted! The zuki lives! proof it runs..with no angry smurf!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPTZtdgG ... BDTS-SPAlw
