The H20A engine uses coil-on-plug ignition with a Mitsubishi 33410-77E1 two-pin module (and FYI, you can substitue a Ford BA COP module 3R2U-12A366-AB - although the Ford part doesn't have any physical bolt-down capability).

The H25A uses the 33410-77E2 module which has three pins and has bigger "bump" above the coil. I did a quick search and the Megasquirt forum was not definitive on whether the 3-pin COP module was "intelligent" (ie. has an igniter built into the bump) or not. So, a question....

Can I use the 3-pin (H25A) 33410-77E2 module wired up a particular way so it looks like the older 33410-77E1 module? (I have a complete set of the 3-pin Suzuki modules but a mix of 2-pin Suzuki and Ford modules).

3 pin coil packs have the ignitior internally, 2 pin coil packs use a separate ignitor module usually mounted on the firewall - so you can make the 2 pin coil pack "look" like the 3 pin one by wiring it through the ignitior module, but not vice versa. Not withstanding, it should be possible to get the MS to drive the 3 pin coil pack without too much difficulty (at least in theory, I haven't used the MS)

FWIW your coil pack part numbers are missing a digit.

Thanks for the info - I'll have to play with the one with inbuilt ignitor. I'm going to use the Ford COP modules on the H25A but with H20A ECU and external coil driver module on the firewall.

The Mitsubishi part's number certainly is 33410-77E2 - it's moulded onto the case. The 33410-77E1 part is actuallly a "Diamond" brand.

The Ford part 3R2U-12A366-AB also has other text 6226 BA - this is on a paper label - mine may not actually be a "genuine" Ford part (but maybe from the same factory!)

Ahh, just found a manual for the H25A (for SQ625) and it has a wiring diagram for the COP with inbuilt ignitors on the H25A - see attached.

So, NO, the newer H25A coils cannot be wired up and used as a two pin module like on the H20A (yes, initially I said they could - I changed my mind after inspecting the wiring diagram showing the transistor collector connectd to the "other" end of the primary...)
