is there a code on the car you can look for like toyotas?
or does it just go on what year your car is cause i found that thread?
and would rear and front be the same or what?

how can you tell about front ratio?

5.12:1 & it's the same ratio front & back... the actual sizes of the diffs differ.

might be noob qn but fo you mean housings are dif sizes or actual centers? so u cant put a rear diff center in a front housng?

they are completely different, you can use 2 vitara front's to re-gear a sierra though.

lol. just still trying to find a simple upgrade for mine. if its 5.12 for rear thats fairly tight its just the front i need to replace.

there is no "simple" upgrades 5.12's are as good as it gets in regards to diff gears without spending mega $$$$'s

just like in my previous threads taht my front seems really loose and doesnt like sand etc and mainly needs the left wheel to spin in order the right one to spin

it's an open diff so power will go to the path of least resistance, does it mainly happen when bogged/almost bogged?

well before happened as soon as i hit sand. dirt it seems to be ok but could be better

are you 100% sure your free wheeling hubs are working properly & aren't seized/sticking?

my vitara absolutely owns the sand with low tyre pressures.... as in it's almost unboggable.

wen i got ther car they were seized, got them greased up so they would lock in 4x4 mode

Sure you put the hubs back right?

You have an open diff. Replacing it with another open diff won't make it any better. One wheel will spin. That's what happens. You'll only spin both wheels if they both have exactly equal traction. That almost never happens.
