hello!! I've been looking into putting different springs into my zook. Im currently running front springs from a 1980 4x4 hilux ute in the rear of my zook, and i want to swap these with a softer/flexier spring. Does anyone know for certain if EA-ED falcon wagon rear springs are the same size as the 1980 hilux springs? Thanks muchly

once apon a time cd-xf ute springs were the hot swap into the rear of a hilux with new hangers so I think they might be pretty long

I have a pair of Xa-Xf springs here.. I'll measure them up in the morning.. They are at least 1500mm long though.

These springs came in XA-XH utes and XA-XF wagons, XA-XD sedans and ZF-ZK Fairlanes.
The Fairlane springs would probably be the best start for a Zook as they are only 4 leaf and are a much softer rate than ute springs (which are 7 or 8 leaves).

If they are the same as the coupes they are about 66mm wide

thanks heaps buddy... thats great of ya!!!!!!! My current springs (lux fronts) are 1165 eye to eye X 60 wide. I'm hoping to replace these springs with a "bolt on" new spring set up. Probably pushing shit up hill... but i might be lucky enough to find a spring that is a bolt in fit, saves making new mounts again!!!!

have you looked at a set of lux rears? they are a little longer but have more of a ark in the spring so more flex and the spring pin is more in the center of the ark so your diff sits lower on the spring

there is bound to be tonnes of them down at the wreckers, cheap too considering they are over 60 years old

there are at least 10 wrecks within 3 ks of my house. they are just early

went exploring at the wreckers today.. found that rodeo, courier and navara rear leaves are all within 15mm of the hilux rears. But.. they all seem pretty much the same spring (same thickness, amount etc).. so doubt their will be any benifit going that way. Reckon 2wd cars would be that way to go.. like the falcon springs want33's was talking about. hmmm.. best keep looking!

If you want REALLY long springs look at 60's and early 70's Cadillacs, they are about 6 feet long. (1800mm+) Longest leaf springs I've ever seen.

lux rears are your best bet, why do you think lux guys do ruf like us?

just got a price from leighton spring works (spring shop in Launceston) to get custom springs made up. They can be 5mm thick, 60mm wide, 1145 long and 3 springs per pack. My current springs are 1165 long, and the shackle angle isnt the best.. so thought the ideal length would be 1145. He said they are very flexy to. $440 for the 2 packs. What does everyone else think? Has anyone ever got custom springs made?? What did you think of them??

what is the go with custom springs? do you have to specify what load rating you need it to be? how do you know what it should be? you need it to be flexy, and in most cases still have some arch in it to get it a little bit higher and as long as possible for the car but the load rating has got me perplexed as to what you would need.
