Gday All,

My 03 Jimny has a whistle noise while accelerating at around 3000-4000rpm, ive had the car warm up while idling in the driveway to operating temps then after a short period of driving the whistle stops until the car cools down again.
Im guessing so far that it is the wheel bearings need to be done? any thoughts?

any idea where the whistle is comin from.
Does the noise stop when ya back off the fuel?
Or does the sound happen when you brake?
I've just gone through this myself recently and found it was me wheel bearings

yeh goes away when i back off the gas

had the same prob with my jimny a while ago.

cant remember exactly which but it was either the fan belt or the alternator belt, or to be more exact, the bearings that the belts run on.

i gave all the points that the belts spin on a spray with wd40 and the whistle stoped for a few months but it did come back eventualy. so I just gave it another spray but sold the car soon after.

so yeh I just suggest giving all the point where the belts rotate on a spray with wd40. probly avoid spraying the belts if its possible. that should shut it up for a while atleast.

Yeh i thought about that, but it only does it while the car is on the move, no sound while reving at stationary

Where abouts on the car can you hear the noise coming from. It's not a partially blocked catalytic convertor is it?

check your vaccum lines mabey one has come of. they whistle when underload if they have come off

Sounds like the front, if any thing drivers side, as i mentioned it only does it while initially driving off, and has nothing to do with engine temp.

sorry mate, take off a vaccum line and see lol. they only whistle under load as the air is going faster through the little hole.

I get a tinny whistle through my exhaust for the fist 800 metres of driving when I first start and head off. Even if I get the car to running temp it still does it. Really weird. By the time I get to the end of the road it has stopped. So I just ignore it.

My exhaust is not standard so probably not the same anyway.

yep pretty much the same as u mention.

Quite strange, i had quite a tinker today on the truck and couldnt fault any thing so for the time being im gunna do as u do
