hey guys.
what rear spring options do i have to lengthen the w/b of my flat tray sierra..
id like to keep the stock front mount if possible, but widening the mount is a option.
i have heard feroza rear springs are quite long and soft? or another option is IFS hilux.
i will be running 2inch rears up front.
i am looking for a decent amount of flex also.

CJ jeep fronts are longer and 2" wide (near enough the same width as Sierra springs). They're what I plan to run in my LJ81. Highway-star was messing with them a few years back, pretty sure he was having trouble finding bushes that would fit.

There's also the 323 wagon and Corolla springs. Those must be rocking horse poop by now though. There's a big thread on it in goodtech.

Feroza and Hilux springs are 60mm wide so you'd need to mod both hangers anyway.

We ended up with custom made cj length with sierra sized ends. Only 200ish a piece

^^ what Tanshi said... go with custom made leaves and get 4 packs made so you have a set of brand new ones in the shed.

I'd suggest asking them to take the exact specs of their sierra rear leaves (material thickness, camber and number of leaves) and add 120mm or so... this will soften it and should mean you don't need to drop a leaf from the pack.

Alternatively (and way cheaper) is to move all the mounts and do a 3/4 epileptic on the back...

ok i read the thread.. i might call the spring works and see what a new main will cost me.. id like about 6-12 inches if i could, but may move the front mount.
i am looking to get a decent sized tray so i can sleep in it when camping.. running 34s so the extra wb is a good thing.

You would have to be very careful here as with the long springs the spring rate drops dramatically causing the main to pretzel pretty easily! For an extra 6inch+ I would be looking for 8mm mains at least. I'm guessing custom leafs are out of your pension price range so fez springs should fill the bill. Suss out SierraDan's build just prior to it's scrap heap destiny. A bit of info in there.

sigh another pension comment.. thats cute, if you must know i make quite a deal of coin these days so please refrane from that crap, it does not help.

Anyways... moving to a 8mm main leaf may be a option if i can get it made up... i can then cut the eyes of stock rear springs to make up the second leaf and a standard second for the 3rd?

another option is go go 3/4 eliptic and a track bar so stuffing the springs may not be a issue.

If you are going to extend the main by 6-12 inches then you will need a secondary leaf that is 5-11 inches extended or the main will bend too easily.

my hilux leaves are made from 7mm on the main and 6mm on the rest (but they're also 62mm wide so less prone to twisting).

If you had a whole pack made and not just the main i don't think you'd have issues with bending leaves, and if it were made to the 2" specs its usually thicker material (stiffer) anyway.

Or like i said, just go 3/4 eliptic using stock rears and not worry about your departure angle getting worse.

3/4 with Lux springs

Not that sierras fall Into the floppy catagorey but if I was you phill try build something with an awesome front end and then match the rear with equal or less travel. This keeps it from pig rooting/ trying to torque twist the car over on hill climbs. Plus if the front works well its also your steering wheels. So control on hill climbs with direction. Can't be beaten!

No idea on how to make the front work stupid well tho...

I'm running a rear suck down so the 3/4 will hardly come into it on hills..
Leanin towards moving the mount and just running ke's..
In saying all that, balanced flex is important so a ruf with soft rears will be needed..
