Hi All,

As the title suggests I want to upgrade the 1.3 carby motor in my 93 Sierra.
What's the biggest we can legally go?
I was thinking of putting in either a 1.6 or 2.0 efi.
I just got a quote for a 1.6 efi reco motor fully installed $2950, is this a good price or could I do better and if so where.

i could be wrong but i believe that price is for a 1.6carby motor.
is that from suzisport.

It was definitely an efi quoted from Suzi Auto Services (Slacks Creek).
I was in their on Friday picking up other parts and apparently its been that price for the last couple of years.

Does that mean its a good price?

thats a good price do you know what fuel pump they will use?

thats pretty good for drive in drive out.

however you can do it yourself for half that if you have the time.

I have just fitted a 1.6 MPFI 16 Valve out of a 93 Vitara and it cost a lot less than that...

Short block:
Rings, bearings, gaskets, new oil pump:
Head, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold and engine pipe, air ducting and airbox, complete vitara loom, timing cover and starter motor:
Auto elec to sort wiring to fit Sierra:
Petroworks bellhousing adapter & unbreakable engine mounts:
Add a bit for plugs, leads, new oil and filters and it still owes me under $2000

If you just bolted in a 2nd hand motor it would be cheaper again.

EFI = Electronic Fuel Injection. MPFI = Multi-Point Fuel Injection. EFi is a broad term to describe fuel injection. Multi point refers to an injection system that uses more individual injectors for each cylinder, opposed to single point or throttle body injection (TBI) which just uses a common point for the injectors. MPFI gives "better" performance, but in reality at the level of performance we are talking about (1.6l Vit motor) its not a great deal. All injected ADM vit motors are multi point, Single point (TBI) was available overseas on vits and sierras.

Ring them again you have been misquoted, andrewa is correct, their base price for this conversion with TBI not MPI is $4500 and goes up from there.

If you are looking for awesome power and reliability you can go Toyota 20Valve for the same kind of money. If you really want some grunt I have a supercharged 4agze for sale already set up for rear wheel drive.
