Yair . . . Hello folks. I'm new around here and seeking some info on current model three door Vitaras.

There have been various Suzukis in our past, a couple of early Sierras, and three or four of those little forward control utes they used to sell back in the Seventies.

Going into retirement we are looking to replace my wife's ten year old Accent with a little 4x4 we can take bush chasing Barra and Jacks and maybe a bit of fishing from the beach.

We both would be happy with the Jimney for bush work but as the little jigger has to serve as a shopping buggy with a seventy kilometre Bruce Highway haul about once a fortnight I am concerned she who must be obeyed might find the 1300cc. engine with auto a little doughy after all those years in the Accent.

The regional dealers eyes glaze over when you ask about the three door Vitara and they try to sell us some new fangled cross over thing.

Is there a problem with the three door? We can't even get a consistent specification . . . one mob tells us if ordered it can come with cruise control, the other mob says no. They do agree though they will only procure against an order with upfront money and delivery will take several months.

So there is our dilemma. Any insights and suggestions would be much appreciated.

We have a current model 5 door manual and the wife loves it. Well its an 08 update model.

Cant see why the local dealers are being so painful. ..... The local dealers down here in vic have them in stock.

The Jimny would be fine for what you want it for but the extra size and power in the GV will make the wife a lot happier.

Is it worth the effort to fly somewhere for one and drive it home?

GV is a lot better value for money, especially second hand. Jimnys don't depreciate much though.

Suzuki QLD is different to Suzuki everywhere else, hence the difficulties you might be having when we might be fine. I know cruise control is standard here in W.A....

There's no issue with the 3 door, I'd say I see more 3 doors than wagons here in Perth. They're very common.

Yair . . . Thanks for reply's fellers. I always try and buy local but this maybe I give that a miss . . . a dealer on the Tweed (NSW) has a couple in stock and more coming and his numbers make better sense.

I have a '12 GV3 now with 50k on it.
Great little road car although a bit thirstier than I thought it would be.
For me the beach is a bit of a drag as GV3 a little low in standard trim.
The couple of times I have had mine on the beach I have lifted the muffler off the hanger, not a big deal but still inconvenient.
cannot do beach work without letting tyres well down though which drops clearance further.
I see thay are now calling it GV3 navigator

Sounds like you need to give it a small lift and some bash plates.
