Was wondering what people think the best way is to reseal my lower crankcase (the piece between the block and second sump). From my understanding I have to pull the timing to get it out....
What other things should I replace while I'm in there again?

It used to until I had the motor rebuilt.
There is a oval shaped rubber o-ring the goes around the oil return gallery. The problem is there isn't enough pressure on one side to seal it due to where the surrounding bolts are positioned.
You could try giving to bolts around it some more torque. Otherwise you might be able to buy a new o-ring but it would probably have to be genuine. Changing this would require pulling the cast alloy upper sump off. No o-ring came in the rebuild kit for mine so the rebuilder just made sure the bolts were proper tight.

I just had another think about it and a few of the bolts the hold the upper sump on are accessed internally after the pressed steel lower sump is removed. I think some of the ones around the o-ring may be internal. Not 100% sure though.
