I'll add that OME looks to me to be a bit soft for many jimny users. I think this is mostly because most Jimnys are driven very close to or over GVM most of the time. Jimny suspension is quite difficult to get right- front springs look to be a problematic design and the rear lacks roll stiffness, especially if roof load is added. OME tend to be quite conservative, running lower lift and lower spring and shock rates that aren't well suited to overloading or substantial roof loads. I'd argue that no car is we'll suited to overloading or high roof loads, so I'm not sure that's a critisism of OME as much as it is a critisism of jimny owners.

while i think most of what you have said there steve is pretty fair, id like to add a observation.
i found the OME springs softer then my standard springs which were much stiffer in the rear end. but this could have, once again, been related to the 70kg of double bed on my roof.

yeah very good chance king supplies them with a custom spring, but i really don't know.

pretty sure the OME shocks are made in St Mary's in SA at the Monroe Factory, to their own specs, not sure who makes their springs.

when my mate from auto pro spoke to OME they gave him codes for king springs & they're the codes i already had (but hadn't provided him). they could've just been quoting the generic spring to work, or could've been what they use in one of the kits.

out of interest what were the part number given to you?

KSFR-36H for the front & KSRR-37H for the rear. they specified that the lift was 40mm, but i think most people get 50mm at the start.

they're king springs part numbers, OME below... sounds like you need a new parts guy, can't see why ARB would be quoting King Springs part numbers.

high chance he's just suggested them as a cheap option or something as looking on OME's website they only refer to nitrocharger & that they test prototypes of different components & tune them etc. so whether the base product comes from X company, sounds as though it's manufactured to their specs etc at the least.

i had an OME kit in my GQ SWB, it was their medium rated gear & overall it was a beautiful package to drive, wasn't a flex monster but handled everything that i threw at it over the years. was nice enough to punt thru the hills at a fair rate of knots & soaked up corrugations like a boss. the good thing is they don't do a one size fits all, unlike most of the others, eg. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=46675

i'd be looking at the jimny bits kit or what ever most of the jimny guys on here are running.

the car i just sold had a 2" OME kit in it, i couldn't fault it for what i used it for, very good ride for everyday use & excellent on the highway as well (was a 1991 GQ).

It was a bit over a year ago, but I got my 40mm kit (that actually lifted it 50mm) for just over $700 direct from Dobinsons, picked up from the Sydney warehouse. I've noticed they don't have offices in every state though.

You can download their part numbers on this page and try calling the office closest to you. I'm a bit old school and like to call and get a better deal where ever I can.
I just got the springs and shocks, no castor correction or adjustable panhards.

Really happy with my kit.

i have pro comp in mine " i will be looking at changing them as dont go rock crawling i've set up mine for touring .
the pro comp has to much flex for what i need

a gv might be a good investment then. their better handling on road and have more power/ bigger fuel capacity/ more space.

as my zooks set up for touring not heavy 4wding I've found my pro comp suspension to be softer then what i've needed

installed the lift kit this weekend, was a bit testing to say the least lol.

all the bolts etc all undid really well, not one stuck, but the air bags in the rear springs were a real pain in the neck & i ended up putting the front springs in the rear :S i only realised my blunder after ripping all the front suspension out so had to put the original front springs back in so i could redo the rear end. anyway everything is in now & so far really happy with it.

new shocks are tons bigger than the originals. both my rear shocks were stuffed, were coated in oil & i could compress them with my hands & they didn't re-extend afterwards (helped explain why it was airborne over the railway crossing which i went over again today & it was perfect).

new shocks are some ultra king brand with no real markings or anything. the whole setup seems really quite stiff & holds the highway very well, it's literally blowing a gale here & the card didn't notice the wind shear at all which is great, even the wheel alignment hasn't changed so that's another bonus.

atm happy with the lift given it's a cheapy set, will post up proper thoughts after having them for a decent amount of time & having taken them off road.

anyway, had a good day fiddling with the jimny today (now dubbed 'the honey badger' lol). had pantera & another mate around to help which was great, turned into a blokey day fiddling with cars & drinking ice coffee (the nectar of life here in SA).

pantera tightened his front wheel bearings, while taking measurements between his car & mine & making little remarks (35" wheels & a 5" lift makes the jimny look like a chick's car ... not helped by the fact i had the radio on & it was playing spice girls haha).

first up we chucked in paulw's 25mm front spring spacers. they've really made a difference as the car now sits perfectly level (literally to the mm but it'll no doubt drop down), but more importantly the car no longer has the really back jarring bounce in the rear end when you hit bumps.

after finishing with the spring spacers we made a brake balance proportioning bracket for the rear. i'd made 2 earlier but they weren't 100% right or rigid enough, this time put in more effort & got it near on perfect.

when everything was finished we went & hit the little hills that'd previously made the rear wheel leave the ground (literally above waist height) & far as i know all the wheels stay firmly on the ground which is great. i then found a mound of dirt just to see how far it'll flex & it seemed to do ok, nothing spectacular but more than enough for what i'll be doing in it (lets face it it's no gq patrol but it goes really well for what it is =P ).
